With King Charles' Coronation just weeks away, the Palace is scrambling to secure big-name musicians to perform on the big day.
According to reports from The Sun, the royal team is struggling to secure artists for His Majesty’s big Windsor Castle concert on May 6th, after three more acts have reportedly turned down the royal gig.
Elton John, the Spice Girls and Harry Styles had all been invited to perform, but have had to turn down the offer due to conflicting tour schedules.
A source tells The Sun, “Organisers are working against the clock to pull together an exciting line-up but have hit a series of challenges."
“Elton John was top of Charles’ list but due to his European tour, which sees him performing in Germany the Friday before then again soon after the Windsor concert, he isn’t able to make the dash to the UK work."
“Meanwhile, man-of-the-moment Harry Styles is also tied up with touring and unable to get key band members together as they’ll be on much-needed downtime.”
British singer Olly Murs is rumoured to be filling in the performance spot, joining Take That’s Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald who are due to headline the concert, which will also feature Kylie and Dannii Minogue, Andrew Lloyd Webber and US soul great Lionel Richie.
The royal source said, “Olly has such stage presence and a huge fanbase, he’d be a great addition.”
The news comes just weeks after Ed Sheeran, Adele and Robbie Williams also turned down the offer.
Prior to the acts pulling out of the Coronation celebrations, organisers of the event had stated that King Charles was enthusiastic about their appearances, with one source sharing that “the King has suggested a number of people he would like to perform and Adele and Ed were on that list. He was very keen that they were part of the concert."
The same source went on to explain that "there is a team set up to get the talent signed up so they approached the two of them, but got replies saying that they were unavailable, which was a massive disappointment."
"They are titans of the showbiz industry and are quintessentially British but also known across the globe. It's such a shame."
Bon Scott was Scottish, Brian Johnson is English.
I think Angus and Malcolm were born in Scotland too.
Wonder where Rod Stewart is?
Whatever happened to classical music? If Charles had any class, he’d have the London Philharmonic Orchestra instead of tired old rock stars.
The Queen is dead.
Period.
End the farce.
Maybe Culture Club?
Yes, but would it make any real difference? Would a King William take a bold stance against the rot in the UK? Or would he be content to wave from the palace window as his country goes to hell?
Yes, I know. The sovereign reigns but does not rule, etc. etc.
London, not Tehran:
It looks like they tried to get Brits to perform. I think Diana was a fan of the Spice Girls.
As I understood it, Diana liked rock music and Charles didn’t. So why not invite the London Philharmonic?
Amy joined Club 27 a few years ago. When they tried to make her go to rehab she said no no no.
Just dispense with the entertainment and proceed with the coronation!!
PROBLEM SOLVED.
You won’t be less of a King without Adele or Elton John.
all hail king charles the turd
Maybe they could get The Smiths to reunite.
Spice Girls? Yikes!
Maybe the London Symphony is available? They could perform the Coronation March.
im betting a lot of brits were hoping QE2 outlived charles
Now they would be ‘Old Spice’...................
I thought he was 5th in line?

I stand corrected. But he would only become King if William and his three children were all dead!
Once the three children are old enough to begin their own family the line of succession will continue through their children.
“Ugh, wouldn’t that put Harry closer to being the king?”
Nah, the path to the crown runs through William then from William through his children, oldest to youngest. I think Harry is pretty much frozen out at this point.
What say you naturalman?
Amy can’t attend. Satan has other plans for her.
Amy Winehouse is dead Hon, but Paul and Mick are good choices.
