BTU’s: Get out your slide rule. You can do this: Normal solar exposure on the sunny side of the earth is right at 300 watts per square yard. Flare exposure is way less than one percent of that.

Bottom line is that normal solar exposure is such a large number that a bonfire on the sun isn’t even a blip.
