Memphis cops on Friday night released footage showing the events leading up to the death of 29-year-old Tyre Nichols.
Horrific footage showed the moments he was stopped by police, him fleeing, then the vicious beating when they caught up and the lack of medical care.
Five officers involved in the January 7 incident have been charged with second-degree murder, and fired from the force.
CJ Davis, the well-respected Memphis police chief, said she had never witnessed anything so devastating in her policing career.
Meanwhile Benjamin Crump, an attorney representing the Nichols family, said Nichols was treated like 'a human piñata'.
The four clips - three from body cameras, one from a surveillance camera attached to a post - have shocked and angered America.
Here DailyMail.com breaks down the footage from start to finish - from the moment he was pulled over to him slumped next to a cop cruiser as EMTs watched on.
At 8:20pm on January 7, Nichols, who was born in Sacramento and moved to Memphis in February 2020, was driving home from a suburban park, where he had taken photos of the sunset.
He was driving along East Raines Road in south eastern Memphis when he encountered the police. One officer said he was 'cutting through traffic'.
'So we just try to get him to stop. He don't stop,' an officer told his colleagues, in the body camera footage. 'Hit the siren. Stop stop stop.
'Then he drove around, swerved like he gonna hit my car. 'So then I'm like - *******.
'He pull up to the red light. Stop at the red light. He put his turning signal on. 'So we jump out the car. '**** went from there.'

So where is this dashcam footage? Any footage I have seen from inside the cruisers does not have any sound? Where's the dashcam?
I’ve often wondered what would happen if you just gave up and handed badges and guns to thugs and street criminals.
Now I know.
Maybe its time the cops ‘comply’ with us.
Saw that. Beyond heartbreaking. Worse thing I’ve ever seen. The only explanation I can come up with is that the crime is so bad in Memphis that police officers who deal with it daily (and likely residents as well) have some sort of PTSD from the daily exposure and this poor guy, for whatever reason, triggered their PTSD and they totally lost it. They were Dan’s ready to break and this kid was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Horrible.

I have no idea why the cops started out to aggressively. But I feel pretty confident they beat him because they were mad that they SPRAYED THEMSELVES with pepper spray.
Everyone involved in this was incompetent.

A little research on this particular 5 that they already had complaints existing too. These 5 have a history of excessive use of force.

Pepper spraying themselves is more common than you might expect. I’ve seen them spray prisoners who were acting up while restrained in the back of the patrol car while driving down the road.
I’ve also seen nearly the entire shift on duty after they stood in a circle pepper spraying the suspect in the center of the circle.
Sometimes it’s really hard not to laugh.
From the description this is 3 Stooges level policing reflecting masterful training, first class recruiting, and awesome leadership. What a disgrace.
It really rattled me when I learned from a wwll medic that fatally injured soldiers would often call out for their mother.
Looked at the vid. These cops lives are over. Irrespective of what happened before the vid we see, the compliant placating tones the soon to be dead guy used and the fact of five men on him damns them all. All they had to do was cuff him and put him in a car. Even if he is resisting…five guys? Done deal. THEY are the ones who were screaming and out of control, the entire time.
And how does that excuse the actions of the cops?
He was acting like a terrified human being. He was on the ground and they continued to maul him like a pack of wild dogs.
These pigs should hang.
It’s not natural to just lay back and let a gang of apes beat the stuffing out of you. When survival mode goes live you’re capable of whatever it takes to survive, get away, which is what we saw the young man do.
And this is an excuse for beating him to death? Seriously? They should be sent to prison for a very, very long time. There is no difference between gangsters and “police officers” of this kind. This cannot be tolerated.
