Thoughts?
I have only bought them once to give to a relative so no, I did not notice.
I have seen gift cards still in stores. What’s the difference?
It long ago occurred to me that they are a way to transfer funds outside IRS control. Same with gift cards, to some extent.
I've never used them. I just use my regular credit cards and pay the bills on time.
Not sure why people would use them unless they bought them as gift cards to give to somebody else. Seems like it would be a pain keeping track of the running balance however.
Walked into the grocery store and bought two for Christmas so nope
Had no problem buying them last month to inside holiday cards for acquaintances.
Is there a bigger story in development here?
Target and most grocery stores still sell VISA gift cards. For how long you will still be able to walk in and buy one with a handful of $100 bills and no ID is, however, an open question. They undoubtedly want to track the path of every Federal Reserve Note in circulation.
(Thoughts?)
Just another step towards the end goal
Many will deny it’s happening - until there’s no other option available
Nations are going to shut down alternate forms of payment that cannot be tracked
Many will not believe it
Nothing is going to stop it from coming either

Revelation 13:16-18
King James Version
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

Democrats don’t need them for illegal campaign finance until the next election?
In the last two weeks I’ve been in a Kroger and a Food Lion, both still have the cards stocked.
I drew a lucky card in the game of life and will be on grand jury duty for the next month. There is a $50/day payment plus $7 a day for transit expenses. (The courts want us to use metrorail.) The payment mechanism is a Visa cash card, which will be topped off periodically (I think weekly) for days served. If a juror misses a day, he doesn’t get paid for it.
FWIW
It’s been a surprising number of years since I’ve been on a petit jury so I don’t know if the petit jury payment system has moved on from paper checks. But for the grand jury, they’ve got us for a month and the administrative folks now prefer the card.
No, but I have read that woke folks want to have a 666 chip inserted into their hand so they no longer have to carry cash or credit cards.
Phone scammers in Calcutta love gift cards. They probably avoid the prepaid VISA cards as they are too easily tracked.
I have no use for credit cards.
They still sell them at my local grocery chain.
You pay for these up front
Its not like its credit and they wait for you to pay the balance
My wife just got 2 as presents from co-workers. Not seeing anything saying they’re being discontinued. Everybody is advertising you can buy them there. Though honestly they kind of suck, they’re usually loaded with transaction fees so if you wind up spending the money in bits and pieces you’ll lose a bunch. It would be nice if they were discontinued, but they’re a profit center, so that’s probably not happening.
Really? I was searching for a particular gift card just last week. Checked several stores. All had Visa Cash Cards .Is it a regional thing?
