Pretty impressive this Navy pilot flying a Grumman F9F Panther shot down 4 Russian piloted MIG-15s. On paper the MIG was the superior aircraft.

So Russia attacked the US?
Seems we owe them some karma, don’t we?

Our government lies.
This is convenient propaganda.

This story makes me smile. These were the days when men were men. You can see in one of the pictures in the article how he’s regaling the men of his story, smiling and gesturing. There’s pride there. Pride for what he did, pride for his country, pride for his training. That pride is called “the patriarchy” nowadays.
How I long for the days of pride in what we do. God bless Captain Williams.

Do you think the U.S. government is inventing stories of past valor against the Soviets to kindle anti-Russian sentiment?
To: MeganC
So if F15s with no national markings flown by American pilots in Ukraine would be ok because of what happened in 1952?

There was another Williams who flew F9’s in Korean. (Ted.)

Pride for what he did, pride for his country, pride for his training. Pride in fighting halfway around the world with no declaration of war by Congress … as a tool of the United Nations.
No thanks. It’s clear to me where this country went off the rails.

Wow.
You’d think it’d be hard enough just flying them in English!

Will Issa be at the ceremony, or will he still be in Davos participating in the Woke Economic Forum?

My grandfather fought in Korea. He was proud to be there. Not saying it was just, but the men who fought and many who died deserve our support. Our government’s faults should not hang around their necks.

The story admits that his gun cameras say 4 kills for sure. They admit that records show he was engaged by 7 migs, and that 7 migs took off that day, and one made it home. 4 shot down, 1 crashed from damage on way home, and one just disappeared.

I bet Tom Cruise makes a Maverick prequel where this guy is his father.

I’m sure he was a great guy, and I don’t criticize him and his peers at all.
I would just point out that “He did what his government told him to do” is an epitaph you won’t find on the grave stone of any great figures in history.
Deifying men like that is how you end up living in a country governed by stunted losers like John McCain, John Kerry, etc.

I'm not clear here...yes,the MIGs were Russian but were the pilots Russian? I assume they were, otherwise the Captain wouldn’t have been ordered to keep his mouth shut.

Thanks for the post.
The expression of Williams in front of the plane with his name on it, says it all.
Brave men like him should always be respected and remembered.
