My grandfather fought in Korea. He was proud to be there. Not saying it was just, but the men who fought and many who died deserve our support. Our government’s faults should not hang around their necks.
I would just point out that “He did what his government told him to do” is an epitaph you won’t find on the grave stone of any great figures in history.
Deifying men like that is how you end up living in a country governed by stunted losers like John McCain, John Kerry, etc.
I had a friend in college who was active in the anti war movement. Very active. He got so involved it became his life and also his death. He became depressed and went out a 9th floor window in a Queens hospital. Were he to come back now and find 2023 Free Republic I think he could feel comfortable reading many of the thoughts being posted.
