While appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Chelsea confessed how she always thought the sun and the moon were the same.

“I didn’t know until I was 40 years old that the sun and the moon were not the same thing," Chelsea, 47, admitted. “My older sister Simone looked up at the sky and she said, ‘Chelsea, Chelsea, look up. It’s not often you get to see the sun and the moon at the same time.'"

Chelsea responded, “But they’re always together," before embarrassingly elaborating that she "just assumed when the sun went down, it popped back up as the moon."

This is a woman who in her earlier years decided that she was a genius because men paid attention to her.

It is all thanks to a striking coincidence. The sun is about 400 times as wide as the moon, but it is also 400 times further away. The two therefore look the same size in the sky – a unique situation ....

And to think, it just “randomly happened” that way too - no being doing it on purpose at all, nothing to see (or think) here.

I guess her fourth-grade teacher never had the class make the solar system from various sizes of rubber balls hung from the classroom ceiling. Nobody ever took poor little Chelsea to the planetarium, like a normal kid. There was no globe in her house, and no parents talked with her or read to her. Yet she shoots her mouth off for a living.

I’ve listened to a couple of her podcasts and there certainly wasn’t anything this alarmingly stupid. Not funny maybe a decent interviewer that asks relevant questions. And most importantly she actually seems much happier than in the past (post therapy ??).

I once heard a lecture on the ancient Athenian calendar (which was a lunar calendar) given by a professor with a Ph.D. from Harvard, who had been a Rhodes Scholar. He was unaware that the moon was sometimes visible in the daytime. He was in his 50s.
