Experienced a kidney stone 25 years ago. Doctor at that time went in invasively to get it and remove
Three nights ago, I was struck with another kidney stone attack. Lasted about 2 hours in the middle of the night.
24 hours later. Another one. Could feel the pain and the stone moving farther south.
Another one early this morning, still painful but I believe stone is making progress.
Refuse to go to any clinic or hospital, what do my wise freeper friends suggest to speed up the process and alleviate the pain.

I don’t know what to tell you, but NO ibuprofen. I was told I had stage 3 kidney disease by the VA. I was sent a huge bottle of ibuprofen for a case of covid brain. I had requested Prednisone. It’s a wonder someone didn’t need dental surgery after that, especially after finding out certain electronic records had been purged. Veterans, the hospital’s patient advocate doesn’t work for you. Remember that.

Yup- that is what i was told by one urologist- they said it could really damage the kidneys further-
I went in to have the stones broken up with some machine, I don’t remember what the procedure was- but it had to do with sound or some kind of pulsing to try to break up the stone-but they couldn’t see it with the machine- apparently there is a type of stone that doesn’t show up? or so i was told- So they couldn’t do the procedure- that’s when they suggested the catheter-
Vast amount of experience, even recent. First I’d recommend a starter dose of 10 mg hydrocodone or oxycodone followed in close order with a quart of water, 2 diet sodas and 2 beers. Follow up with as many beers as it takes. If the the stone is 3 mm or smaller it’ll pass, 4 mm and up you’re going to want ESWL, Extra Corporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy. Do yo have a history of stones or is this your first? If the ureter is blocked you’re in for a bout of hydronephrosis. It’s usually back pain that isn’t back pain and nausea, the hydronephrosis and it’s symptoms will disappear as soon as the kidney can drain. If urineis dark brown it’s from the kidney, if it’s red it’s not likely from the kidney but the ureter, bladder or urethra. Get a solo cup and pee in it so you’ll know if you pass it. If you have blockage in the ureter you’re headed for surgery regardless of what you want.
I don’t know if that helps or not, but I would go to the doctor.
Having had several of these I wish I had a better answer. The worst occasions were cause for a trip to ER and recourse to opiates until they passed. I haven’t had nearly as many since I started drinking more water and getting my sugars under control.

Most kidney stones will pass without lithotripsy or other intervention but lots of water and some pain dullers but it’s better to get into the system early just in case. Ultrasound exam is low risk and not bankruptingly expensive- and may even jiggle a stone helpfully.

When I had mine it was a couple of weeks and two procedures to get it out. And a bunch of morphine. Not Tylenol. Not oxy. IV morphine.

For an acute attack I’d advise seeking medical help immediately, it would be foolish not to. In the future always remain well hydrated at all times and supplement with magnesium. When I had kidney stones the pain was so overwhelming I just dropped to the floor unable to even move it was so bad, actually the pain was so bad I was thinking ok God just kill me now, no way I can take this. Even in the emergency room it took huge amounts of painkillers to get the pain to subside, morphine alone didn’t even touch the pain. But since supplementing magnesium and always making sure I’m well hydrated I’ve never had another attack.

I don’t know but some how they are caused by global warming and people of color are hardest hit.
I believe the cut off is 4 mm or so. Below that and you pass it. Mine was 8mm. That was not going to pass.
The issue is you can’t tell by the pain. The only way you will know is getting an ultrasound. Or CT scan.
But, people wish to believe the medical folks are witch doctors. Those people apparently also want kidney damage and a dissected ureter.
Go to a doctor and find out what you are dealing with. A cat scan will tell you and a doctor what the treatment options are. I had a kidney stone attack and thought I was going to die. As it turned out, my largest stone was able to pass with drugs in a day or so. The other 2 took several months to work their way out

Get thee to a Doctor. This isn’t something to fool around with.
I was laying on the tile floor of the ER waiting room because the cool floor made it less painful. Then I was puking from the pain.
And the thing that sucked is that just about every woman would tell me that it was like labor. That didn’t help.
Stones are nasty things I never want to repeat. I drink a lot of water every day.

That mighta been what they were gonna use for my case- but couldn’t-
Also note- blood cells caused by a blocked stone in urethra can build up and form what looks all the world like worms when they pass- and it’s painful too when they pass as well- I was freaked out about htem- and collected some and brought them to a doc- turns out that yep- they were blood cells all clumped together which took on the form of the urethra- I musta passed about 40 of them-
