Queen’s Brian May Receives Knighthood From King Charles III

In news that won’t disappoint fans of British royalty, Queen guitarist Brian May has been knighted in the New Year Honours by King Charles III. In an article from The Guardian, May is quoted as saying, “I regard it as a kind of charge, like a kind of commission to do the things that one would expect a knight to do: to fight for justice, to fight for people who don’t have any voice.”

He goes on to allude to his charity work as a campaigner for animal rights: “And, in my case, for all creatures who don’t have a voice, and I regard it as a kind of endorsement of what I do.”

The Queen guitarist and songwriter also has a doctorate in astrophysics, which he completed at Imperial College, London, in 2007. He was awarded an Order of the British Empire in 2005 for services to the arts and charity. May signed off on Instagram as “Sir Bri”, but clarified that his official title is “Dr Sir Brian Harold May, CBE”.

Charles has his priorities in order, I see.

What else does a man in a ceremonial post have to do? The King of England is about as significant as the Queen of the Nebraska Corn Festival.

Anyway, good for Brian May - Queen's music has had a lot more impact on more people than King Charles' ramblings about how he wishes he was Camilla's tampon ever have.

Queen’s Brian May takes readers on a 3-D tour of hell

https://nypost.com/2013/10/23/queens-brian-may-takes-readers-on-a-3-d-tour-of-hell/

May just released the tome “Diableries: Stereoscopic Adventures in Hell.” It shows nearly 200 Victorian 3-D images depicting macabre scenes of skeletons, Satan and satirical snapshots of life in eternal damnation.

Queen never did it for me. Most Rock music didn’t. The “Rock” I enjoyed was mostly instrumental.

Keith Richards correctly called out Mick Jagger for his knighthood.

David Bowie had the sense and the courage to turn it down.

Pete Townshend dedicated "My Generation" to the Queen after she had his Packard hearse towed from in front of his apartment building because it reminded her of her late husband's funeral.

Agree on both points. Comments above are an example of why Republicans can't choose a leader, or even understand which way is up in a world where Western Civ is surrounded by enemies.

It’s sad. I used to enjoy the conversations on many a varied topic here. For a long time now it’s just been attacks and cheap shots just because someone might have a different opinion. Seems like a lot of people are doing what we accuse the left of doing. Don’t agree? Shout them down.

Take care my FRiend.

We have the Presidential medals of Honor and of Freedom, etc. Orders of knighthood recognize contributions to the nation. Certainly his rock group has generated a lot of tax dollars and has created jobs, and will go on generating royalites for some time to come. Knighthoods and damehoods are also given to scientific, medical, religious, business and charitable figures.

the Queen...had his Packard hearse towed from in front of his apartment building

That was done in 1965 by "The Queen Mother, not by the late Queen Elizabeth II.

She was called "Queen" when QE2's father was King, but only until he died in 1952. Her daughter then became blood Queen, and her mother's title then became "The Queen Mother", a dozen years before The Who started.
