NATIONAL CANDY CANE DAY
National Candy Cane Day on December 26th gives candy lovers a day to celebrate the red and white striped candies found abundantly during the holidays.
#NationalCandyCaneDay
In 1844, a recipe for a straight peppermint candy stick, which was white with colored stripes, was published. However, some stories tell of all-white candy sticks in much earlier times. Folklore tells of the origin of the candy cane, yet no documented proof of its real beginning. Literature begins mentioning the candy cane in 1866, and it was first known to be mentioned in connection with Christmas in 1874. As early as 1882, candy canes have been hung on Christmas trees.
Fun Candy Cane Facts:
The average candy cane is 5 inches tall.
While most candy canes are not sugar or calorie-free, they do not have any fat or cholesterol.

Bob McCormack and his brother-in-law & priest Gregory Keller brought the candy cane to the masses. What started out as candy-making for McCormackโs friends and family turned into mass production when Keller invented the machine that enabled Bobโs Candies to go big time.
Traditionally the flavor for candy canes is peppermint, but there are a variety of flavors.
Alain Roby, Geneva pastry chef, holds the Guinness World Record for the longest candy cane, measuring 51 feet long.

In 1847, a German-Swedish immigrant named August Imgard of Wooster, Ohio, decorated a small blue spruce with paper ornaments and candy canes. It wasn't until the turn of the century that the red and white stripes and peppermint flavors became the norm.
In Indiana, a candy maker wanted to make a candy that could be a reminder of Jesus Christ, so he made the Christmas candy cane. He started off with a stick of pure white hard candy. The white color symbolized the virgin birth and the sinless nature of Jesus, and the hard candy symbolized the solid rock which was the foundation of the church, and firmness of the promises of God.
The candy maker made the candy in the form of a J, which represented the name of Jesus and the staff of the Good Shepherds. He then stained it with three stripes which showed the scourging Jesus received, and symbolized the blood shed by Christ on the cross. When you break the cane, it reminds us that Jesus' body was broken for us.

What other candy can you suck down to a needle sharp point to use to stab your brother on Christmas morning? Then bite off the tip to prove that your brother is a cry baby because it was too dull to hurt anyone. Ah, good memories.

The Staff of Kings (also known as the Staff of Moses) was the staff Moses used to demonstrate God's power in the biblical account of Exodus.>>>
A replica of the staff was made for the filming of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull based on the prop from the 1956 movie The Ten Commandments. In the Iconic Props feature of the Crystal Skull DVD, property master Doug Harlocker showcases the Staff of Moses and its crate, numbered 4054504, intended for use in the Hangar 51 scenes. However the staff goes unseen in the final cut of the film.[4]
I love these fun little mental trails. The power of sugar = sugar shock. It's the simple meaning! ๐
So I checked out the Hebrew. Candy cane is "ืืงื ืกืื", a grandfather's cane, which = 233, the same as "the tree of life" [ืขืฅ ืืืืื]. That phrase is even the first place the sum appears in the Torah (Gen 3:24).
And as you can tell, it branches out in all sorts of directions! What next?!
A brutal trip really, because remember how Cain lamented that his punishment was more than he could bear. Born to wander, like a ramblin' rose of the winds [ืฉืืฉื ืช ืืจืืืืช].
I'll have to add "candy cane" to my 233 list. That one's pretty full up as it is. I mean just look at that note about the Hangar 51 scenes. 51 = Edom, and Edom + Jacob = 233 = "Ezekiel ben Buzi", and also Joseph spelled out by each letter. Way more, on and on.
Ah, but remember what General Colt said:
"Logistics? We've got logistics coming out of our ears. What we need is fighting spirit, the will to win!"
logistics [ืืืืืกืืืงื] = 233
And to think, just last night I was reading about this dramatic conclusion. It's all in there:
Rudolph returns to the circus with a police officer named Officer Kelly who exonerates him and returns Frosty's hat and the circus money, bringing him back to life. Winterbolt arrives and tries to attack everyone, but Lilly [ืฉืืฉื] breaks his scepter, causing him to turn into a tree. After this, Sam is arrested, Scratcher disappears, and all of Winterbolt's spells wear off, but Frosty and his family melt as their amulets are no longer active.
However, Rudolphโs old friend Big Ben arrives in time with Jack Frost who brings Frosty and his family back to life.
No mind bondage over here!
There must have been some magic in that yarmulke they found
For when they placed it on his head he began to dance around...

Come to think of it, it makes perfect sense that the Messiah should be found at the very top of "Candy Cane Lane", doing his best work. In a ginger bread house, naturally. I covered the house aspect over here with a few simple images, but now the place could use some added curb appeal:
I'll leave the light on for you. ~ EZ
So many candy canes are being made in Mexico, like Bob’s, that I will not buy them, but some I looked at recently were from Canada. Really sad.
