I know this article is almost 9 years old, but today the media is screaming to use "greek yogurt" instead of butter in Christmas baking.
They will never learn.

Eat real food. It’s easy.
Butter - the Kerrygold and Tillamook are both fantastic brands.

Besides, butter simply tastes better when you add it to food or cook with it.
What could be better than a homemade biscuit with butter on top.

Childhood bliss was twisting an Oreo, to separate the halves, and add a slab of butter to the creme, reassemble said cookie, and enjoy!

margarine and other partially hydrogenated vegetable oils killed both of my parents with heart disease back in the day because they believed the government lies that butter kills people and that margarine was the answer ... eggs were supposed to be killers as well ..
i formed my own opinion about the matter back in my college student days when i observed flies and cockroaches ignoring margarine left out on the counter, when they’d eat practically any other nasty garbage ... flies and cockroaches obviously didn’t detect synthetic fat as being food ...

Greek yogurt is a reasonable substitute for sour cream. Not for butter.

And now there is “plant butter”..isn’t that just margarine?
To: DallasBiff
I quit margarine 50 years ago because of the hydrogenation process.
Now we blend butter with light olive oil for our use. 1/3 cup olive oil per stick of butter. Let them sit to room temperature and wire wisk until blended. Works for us.

Butter never claims it tastes like margarine.
Butter, you can trust it.

I never fell for the margarine scam. I’ve always eaten butter. I’ve never had any heart or cholesterol issues and I’m going to see 70 in less than 18 months.

I'd say the outcome of the great butter vs. margarine contest was never in doubt. At least Greek yogurt has some usefulness (but I don't see it as a butter substitute in most recipes).
