We are headed for a dark age in science
American Thinker ^ | 6 Dec, 2022 | Robert Arvay

Political bias and personal profit have become major factors in the degree to which scientific pronouncements have become suspect.

Science has had a long and difficult path to its success, and to its well deserved respect over its main competitors: superstition and falsehood. Arguably, in 1945, that respect reached its zenith, with the detonation of the nuclear weapons that are credited with ending World War 2. Science-based technology literally exploded onto the public consciousness. No one could argue with its awesome demonstration of power. Nor could anyone doubt that the predictions of scientists, no matter how fantastic, must eventually come true. Why, by 1966, we will all have flying cars!

Of course, we did not. That is certainly forgivable, but scientific technology has fallen short of public expectations in more ways than just that. Some years ago, an eminent physicist published a commentary lamenting the transformation of science from an evidence-based endeavor into a proposal-based activity — a guessing game. Instead of observation, hypothesis, and experiment, physics seemed to have moved its laboratories to the blackboard. We are all familiar with the confusing maze of cryptic, Greco-Arabic symbols that describe for us such unproved pronouncements as the existence of multiple universes, subatomic strings, and "dark" physics, for none of which there is direct physical evidence. Yet these educated guesses enjoy a degree of acceptance rivaling that of confirmed experimental results, blurring the line between scientific fact and speculative conjecture.

The resulting destruction of society from corrupt scientists is appalling. Billions of people are to be impoverished by futile attempts to adjust the climate to some unspecified parameters. Untold numbers of children are being castrated and otherwise mutilated to serve the transgender gods. Inadequately tested drugs are being sold, even mandated, to prevent self-limiting diseases, while effective therapies are being suppressed.

Just try being a scientist after stating that global warming is a fraud and a hoax.

Everything the libs touch, they destroy.....EVERYTHING.
That includes “science”.
One of the biggest things they’ve destroyed is the trust, credibility and assurance of the medical community. I wouldn’t trust any of em to even take my temperature at this point.
Thanks, libs...and oh, just a little remainder: paybacks are gonna be hell.

The evil most fundamental to the Decadence of Western Civilization is contempt for truth, for truth for its own sake the very foundation of science and of Western Civilization.

This contempt undermines and will destroy, if not reversed, not only science but all that is good in Western Civilization--and Western Civilization itself.

The execrable attacks on freedom of speech and the free exchange of ideas is an expression of contempt for truth.

Among many other things, this contempt finds expression in the corrupt politics of Washington and elsewhere and blatantly in the corrupt news media.

We've been there for decades as evidenced by the global warming hoax, the men can be women and vice versa hoax, and the Scamdemic.

The term "scientist" has become a synonym for con artist and paid shill.

Consensus blindness proposal-based activity has played there parts for more than a few decades - this sort of thing is cyclical with the scientific community.

Every one has a theory and looks for facts to support it, ignoring anomalous data points that do not fit the proposed theory or the one consensus agrees on.

Now with all this nonsense about genders, the whole community is taking a steep nose dive into an empty pool.

Based on reading their association magazines, The American Chemical Society, the American Physical Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and Sigma Xi have all been infected with the brain-rotting disease of leftist woketardism.

FTA:

“Yale medical students recently shouted down a speaker rather than question his data and conclusions. Medical students! As Elon Musk might say, let that sink in. In the near future, how will we trust the medical advice of ideological M.D.s?”

Not only Yale medical students, also Yale law students. Those law students, who will be sworn to uphold the Constitution, if they become lawyers, have repeatedly shouted down conservative speakers and shown total contempt for the First Amendment. It’s gotten so bad that a number of federal judges will no longer take Yale graduates as clerks.

“We’ve been there for 30 years.”

Well you could say the golden days of scientific discovery are over. The things discoverable by a small number of smart people and a modest amount of money have been discovered. Those are also discoveries that intuitively make sense.

Now it takes billions of dollars to reach a conclusion that, while it might even be correct, makes no sense to most of us. We don’t know what we got for those billions of dollars. And where there are billions of dollars there is salesmanship and politics.
