A couple explained how they kept their marriage together amid a tense election on an episode of Dr. Phil released Friday.
In an episode focused on bridging America’s political divide, Barbara, a liberal, explained how shocked she was when she found out her conservative husband Rick was about to vote for Donald Trump in the 2020 election.
"It floored me, it challenged what I thought I understood about Rick’s beliefs," Barbara said. "When he told me, I felt like the ground was opening up under my feet, and it was disorienting."
The wife explained at length that she saw a major dissonance between the moral quality of her husband and the presidential candidate he was voting for.

I had an aunt and uncle that got married during WWII. She was a Democrat, he a Republican. Every time they voted, whoever voted last got bragging rights — “Well, I just canceled your vote” — and then they went to Woolworth’s for lunch. Times sure have changed!
What is strange is libs have a good case for opposing Trump. They are for Open Borders, ‘confronting the profoundly racist American past’, racial ‘reconciliation’ through reparations, embracing sexual minorities and their lifestyles, civilian disarmament, all of these are part of creating a better progressive country. Why don’t they answer back that way? Serious question,

It's not a coincidence that fewer men will marry such women and either men will go their own way or take their passports to find wives in other countries. Women in Sweden are currently trying to use the government to stop Swedish men from bringing in wives from Thailand as Sweden is now the country with the highest percent of local men married to Thai women.

I understand. I have an ex-wife, too. She actually listened to me regarding politics, but wrecked our marriage and family at 19 years.
After being divorced from her for 18 years, I remarried the widow of one of my good friends. Been married to her almost 3 years and life has become a joy again.
But there is still plenty of wreckage lying around as a result of her stupidity. Her behavior made my two thirty-something sons hypersensitive regarding potential mates. Neither are married nor have ever been married, though both are solidly in the heterosexual camp, which is great given the insanity of our world. At 66, I still have no grandchildren. Personally, I think I have their wacko mother to thank for that.
Rick needs to dump Barbara.

I agree. She’s probably not the bread winner in that relationship and probably trading on hubby to provide the bread in the relationship. Frankly, as thick and leftist as she is, she needs divorcing and putting her ass back on the market.
Lol I was going to suggest that, but I know so many liberal men up here, and a number of us women that are hard-core conservatives. It’s a conundrum. Perhaps every should be tested for emotion vs. thought decisions. That would be the ideal way to do it lol.
Realistically, I can understand how hard it is being with someone so insanely stupid that they would vote for any national Democrat.
