A FedEx driver confessed to abducting and killing 7-year-old Athena Strand after he delivered a package to her family's home, Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin said at a press conference Friday night.
Police found Strand's body southeast of Boyd, Texas. Digital evidence and interviews lead investigators to believe that Strand died within an hour of her abduction, according to Akin.

Yes I must say they use it more than most states but there are times we see criminals get life without parole that should be in a dirt bed and giving the most hideous criminals a “deal” to testify against his/her cohorts and live to walk the streets again.
I’ll bet FedEx has lawyers scrambling all over the place for the next few months.......good!!!

How did the killer get access to the little girl?
Door bell rings, little girl opens the door and is kidnapped with parents in the house.
Is that what happened?
All I have seen is that she was outside her home and

Best I can figure, she was on the porch, sidewalk, driveway, in the yard, somewhere close to the home and he just snatched her. No mention of exactly where outside the home she was.

I’m not sure about the jailhouse justice. I recall a FR thread about some child rapist that was out on parole after xx years in prison.
This is exactly why I decided not to become a cop.

If I were the family I would sue FedEx for $100 million or more. Hit them where it hurts. Any jury would be quick to punish them. Their negligence got this little girl murdered.

Fedex when you absolutely positively have to be kidnapped raped and murdered.
Reports are the girl had an argument with the stepmom who was watching her, then stormed out of the home and down a long driveway, when the driver was dropping off the package at the gate.
It is a large property and one report said the driveway was almost 200 yards long.
A tragedy any way you look at it
Fed Ex is not innocent in this because they are foregoing background checks on their “contract” drivers. No more full time employees. FedEx has been having serious problems with profitability on its ground delivery services for some time. It is cutting corners and this is the result. Know the facts before you run your stupid mouth.
I agree, but why not 1 billion dollars. They’ve got insurance for sure, otherwise they write the check and we that use FedEx will help this family when we pay for shipping.
Local LE in that county and a neighboring county said they found no priors in those counties. I gather those were the officials quoted, not FedEx. That said, it looks like FedEx either did not check his social media history, or did not care that he was sick in the head. See my #60:

I AM a proponent of the DEATH PENALTY because it WORKS; those who murder will not murder again, those who haven’t murdered yet might think twice!
My preferred methodology is;
1: tie them to a chair.
2: inject them with battery acid.
3: cut them loose.
4: WATCH THEM BOUNCE.
5: when they are through bouncing the job is done!
She had a fight with her step mom and was outside.
