There is an annoying guest at Thanksgiving dinner this year: inflation. The turkey, the stuffing, the cranberry sauce — everything has gotten a lot more expensive. The Farm Bureau puts the total cost of the traditional ingredients at more than $80, an increase of about 40% over 2020.
But inflation doesn't have to win Thanksgiving. Some of NPR's most intrepid business reporters set out on a mission to prove it, by taking on classic Thanksgiving dishes and finding substitutions that cost what those dishes cost in 2020.
Welcome to Substitutionsgiving.
“STACEY VANEK SMITH, MARY YANG, ALINA SELYUKH, CAMILA DOMONOSKE, SCOTT HORSLEY, URI BERLINER”
Team effort pile on propaganda
We bought an 11 pound grocery store brand young turkey for $5 bucks......FIVE dollars.....npr is full of 5h!t as usual.
Well, you sure did better than you would have where I live...in the Midwest. Wonder what Biden’s excuse for the iflation will be next year?
Substitute a Cornish game hen ($4.28 at Walmart) for the turkey. Then split it into 13 portions to match the mashed beans.
NPR's home economists demonstrating their worldliness here. Turkey - $1.79 a pound at Fred Meyer, bacon $4.48 a pound at the same store.
Note to self: remember one more thing to be thankful for, that you don't work with these smug, simpering idiots.
ANNOYING?????????? Only Democrats think inflation is only annoying. Rather than rescind Biden’s terrible policies, yet suggest that you eat less, wear more clothing.
Meanwhie, the Bidens celebrate Thanksgiving in style on Nantucket.
These people are mentally deranged. How much longer must these freaks rule over us?
They only need about ten more people to write that.
Knowing I had to sit down with those butt-ugly harridans, I’d lose my appetite completely!
Cost of my Thanksgiving dinner, $0.00!
That said, here in southwest Florida turkeys were $.49/lb. at Publix.
I'm not complaining.
Liberals love “austerity” - when it comes to everyone else.
Npr can suck rocks
I paid 23.00 for turkey,99c a lb for onions 99c lb for potatoes 1.06 for loaf white bread and 1.29 for cabbage mix about what I pay every year.
Stuffed turkey in roaster potatoes cooked just left is Cole slaw.
What? No Spam?
This is too hard to accomplish as I can’t really think of using substitution for tradition. Why not just ignore the meals, steal the holiday tree one more time, and don’t have parades to waste gas? The one tree can be posted at the white house and Disney can have the tree channel 24 hours a day with movies like Paul Bunyan and the selling channels can run adds for pictures of the tree. Of course the Tree Channel will be pay so Disney can make their profit and hearts can go on immediately after new years for valentines day as Hallmark and Disney first entered into a licensing agreement in 1932.
Why make it so hard? Have a sanitch and pray Trump gets back in in 2024?
Why not try the old Soviet trick: Sitting around a bare table and sucking on pebbles while gazing lovingly at a 9x5" of "Our Glorious Leader?"
Regards,
Bugs are cheaper than turkey and potatoes and gravy and yams and pumpkin pie. Bugs can be the whole meal and you can still be thankful.
An 8 inch baking pan loaf dish of baked stuffing mix with canned minced chicken. It’s a square meal.
House Republicans wouldn’t pass the bills he supported
It took that many fidiots to write and article denying the crappy Biden/democrap economy during Thanksgiving. Everyone should be ashamed.
