England and Wales fans landed in Qatar yesterday amid a ‘desert storm’ of rows over accommodation, alcohol and overcrowding.
Supporters were greeted by blazing temperatures of 34C (93F) in the capital city Doha, which is hosting the first World Cup in a Middle Eastern country.
As football’s greatest show on earth gets under way this afternoon, Qatar’s rulers were already in damage-limitation mode as the first fans began to upload footage of ‘hellish’ conditions in the accommodation villages.

At least all the FIFA officials got paid.
I can’t imagine anyone being dumb enough to travel to a desert country where alcohol is banned and pay that much for a room in a shipping container just to watch a soccer game. It was a terrible idea for FIFA to have it in that schithole but it takes an extra level of dumb to go there to see it. If you love soccer that much sit in a pub with a big screen TV and watch it while drinking and cheering to your heart’s content.
It was and is a trerible idea but money to the right people overcame that.
a ban on swearing?
wtf?
oopsie
93 is not blazing température, and certainly not in those parts.
Qatar is a terrorist state, though. If you want bioze and women you got to have the free islamkc smuggling pass to do it.

93° is “blazing”? Exaggeration is a hallmark of the media and one of the reasons it is not trusted.

Cheese sandwiches with wilted lettuce in styrofoam containers for everybody !
I suspect that by the time the World Cup is over, Cutter will end up making the most money on fines (bribes) to get the British football fans released from jail and allowed to leave the country.
I wonder if any governments have been overthrown by sober, foreign soccer hooligans.
Just got back from 10 days in London which I love to visit. Anticipation of this event was everywhere. But there are also advertisements everywhere saying how great it is to travel to Qatar, the Emirates, and even Saudi Arabia.
I saw enough women in burqas and veils in London itself, all with their men who were in charge of them (including a guy clearly leading his group of wives on Oxford Street). If it’s that bad in London, there’s no way I would even consider going to where that culture runs the show.
I have to add that I went to Saint Pauls Cathedral, that great monument of Christianity. They had a display of tea towels designed by children, and the 10 or so that were selected as the best included three that were Muslim, showing mosques, the moon and star sign - nothing traditional English - and one with the Black Lives Matter fist. Since the word Islam means submission, they’re submitting at St. Paul’s.

Most (or at least many) of the pubs in UK are now closed due to the energy price spike (several hundred percent) due to ‘punishing’ Russia. But if the Brits save up for a few weeks, they can still afford the power to watch the games at home.
Soccer fans are a persnickety lot.
Wait until these sober soccer watchers get a load of the U.S. Men’s new “proud” Crayola colored logo! ROTFL! We could see another soccer stampede killing over 150 sober soccer fans.
They televise these games right? Who wants to go sit in the sand and heat when we already know the score, 1-0 right?
Autogoal!
to my understanding, those fagrags are for show/sale only, they aren’t allowed on the field, so it’s just more feelgood self back patting globohomo
