Now that Merrick Garland appointed Special Counsel Jack Smith to investigate President Trump for the Mar-a-Lago documents and his role in the events of January 6, shouldn't the Republican led Congress KEEP the January 6 Committee?
Of course, the Mar-a-Lago documents are a JOKE since the Washington Post just admitted that there are no very sensitive documents and they even claimed Trump kept them for reasons of ego but nothing nefarious.
As far as President Trump's role in January 6, it seems there is a bit of double jeopardy here since wasn't he already tried for his during his Second Impeachment trial in the Senate? Okay, leaving that aside, the best way for MAGA to push back is to investigate what REALLY happened on January 6 by KEEPING the January 6 Committee. Merrick Garland wants to investigate Trump's role in January 6? Okay, let the NEW January 6 Committee investigate the role of the FBI and/or other intelligence committees into their roles on January 6. That would also include an investigation into the pipe bomber on the night on January 5 and why, despite video evidence and pings emitted from the pipe bomber's cell phone, the FBI still hasn't found him.
I know the general consensus was that the GOP would let the January 6 Committee expire when they took control of Congress but this appointment of a Special Counsel changes everything.
I still insist that Trump is sitting on a secret cache of documents that the Dems/Marxist/insiders know will send them to GITMO or the gallows.
But yes, that should happen, and is what should have happened to begin with.
However, I no longer trust the Republicans to do the right thing, even after supporting them, and only them, my entire life.
I actually like this idea. Replace all the members with decent conservative republicans. Ditch all the rinos. Then start taking an honest look at January 6th. Make the FBI come clean about their involvement so that those who truly committed crimes can be held responsible
OBVIOUSLY McCarthy is going to keep the January 6 Committee in order to “reach across the aisle”, and to give it “a few months to finish its important work”.
As far as the committee doing anything of value to the nation...you obviously don’t know these Republicans the way I do.
Pssst! Make Jim Jordan the Chairman of the new J6 Committee.
Keep it. Replace Lizard with a sane person. Restructure it with an even R/D makeup.
Yes. Just replace the hacks.
Keep the Committee.
Investigate EVERYTHING that happened on or just before Jan 6. Release ALL the video evidence. Put Ray Epps on the stand, and find the FIB operative that left the bombs. Get Pelousy and Muriel Bowser (a dog’s name) to explain why they turned down Trump’s offer of the National Guard. Get a list of all the glowies who were in the crowd and subpoena every damn one of them. I’m sure I left out a few dozen things they need to do, but you get the idea.
Keep it, then get all of Pelosi’s emails, text messages, and internet searches from 9 November 2020 to 30 January 2021. The same for Wray, Mayor Bowser, McConnell, Ray Epps, and several others.
I like this idea - turn the Jan. 6 committee on its head, to investigate the corrupt, politicized role of the DOJ/FBI
BUT - it will absolutely disappear in the media.
I think we should keep the Jan 6th committee with new members. Investigate the real crimes that happened.
When the Minority screams "unfair", point out that the newly populated J6 committee has EXACTLY the same structure as the old committee.
By keeping the committee, said newly repopulated committee is free to release all the redacted videos that the old committee had already collected. No need to re-do the work, just show all the information the old committee felt was harmful to the agenda.
Add in the government interference with elections, and the judicial avoidance of election challenges, and I think you will have something. Yep: lets get the judges under a gas lamp.
ONLY if they change the name to, “Investigations into the role of FBI collusion incitement in the January 6th Protests in Washington.” subtitled [And the deaths CAUSED by their interference.]
Keep the J6 committee going and expose what REALLY happened, especially with the FIB's involvement.
No DC jury will convict a Democrat, even if video evidence existed of them caught committing their crimes.
I can’t wait for the GOP investigation into Ray Epps.
Yes, keep in place and replace all members. To do list:
release all videos to WWW
investigate the pipe bomb crappola
link all public statements of all pre-existing members to actual committee findings. If any discrepancies, prosecute.
tally FBI members
etc. Make it completely partisan. Screw this “go along to get along” crappola. This is WAR — make it painful.
Claiming any further investigation by Congress is interfering with the Special Counsel is the whole, or at least main, purpose for appointing the SC. The DoJ has been investigating and prosecuting people for two years — what changed?
The news media is a continuing bad joke for not asking why the AG suddenly needs a Special Counsel now, but didn’t over year ago. “Were you negligent then? Or are you playing politics and obstructing Congress now?”
The FBI released video of the pipe bomber when he was next to the DNC building. However, the video was at only at a little over ONE frame per second and they don't even manufacture video cameras recording at that absurdly low quality level.
absolutely keep it—but change the lawyers and see if a different set of facts isn’t exposed. And no more secret hearing and leaks. Transparency, transparencey, transparency.
