Construction company offering $100,000 to determine who left alleged 'noose' at Obama library site

A Chicago construction company is offering a whopping $100,000 reward to anyone who can help reveal the identity of whoever allegedly placed a noose at the site of the future Barack Obama Presidential Center.

Major controversy erupted on Thursday after officials said the noose was found hanging at the construction site of the center, which is being built in Chicago's Jackson Park.

Lakeside Alliance, the company in charge of building the site, responded to the controversy by "offering a $100,000 reward to help find whoever was responsible," the Chicago Tribune reported on Thursday.

”We have zero tolerance for any form of bias or hate on our worksite," the company said in a statement, according to the Tribune. "Anti-bias training is included in our onboarding process and reiterated during sitewide meetings."

"We are suspending all operations on-site in order to provide another series of these trainings and conversations for all staff and workers,” the company added.

On Twitter, meanwhile, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker responded to the alleged noose by declaring that "hate has no place in Illinois."

Yep, tying nooses was a popular thing one summer when I was a kid. Someone learned how to tie one and of course that was super cool so we all had to learn.

It’s highly unusual to see a rope used in a construction site. Especially one that might be tied in a knot that might be used as leverage to pull or tow something. /s

$100,000? I could really use that kind of money. Get someone to do it and make arrangements to split the reward. A strung out druggie might even do it for 5%.

I agree...it's NASCAR 2...

Remember, when they found the NASCAR "noose"...it was on a bench or something...and had been there for months....IIRC.

So there I was....lying on the couch....I glanced at the wrought iron railing which led to the upstairs.

There it was....My Snoopy...Hanging from the rail. My kids were a riot.

i wonder if the noose-planter is eligible for the reward? if so, i foresee a quick and dirty means for lots of folks to pick up some quick bucks ... just leave a noose and then turn yourself in ... (of course, you’ll have to make sure your noose will belong to no one else but you ... perhaps folks could register their nooses as NFTs on some block chain ... FINALLY, a useful purpose for NFTs and blockchains!]

Was it a real noose this time, or another bowline like last time, or does it even matter anymore?

I've not seen any photos of this so-called noose, myself. I'm wondering the same things you've asked about.

Every large construction site has security cameras to protect their equipment and materials.

They KNOW who put up the noose.

of course, you’ll have to make sure your noose will belong to no one else but you

***********

They can have a unique item included in their noose.
Not that complicated.
