Donald Trump is my favorite President, even more so than Ronald Reagan.
However, I think I’m moving on from him.
I like him in the role of a clarion-calling standard bearer, and his presidency was the best I have ever seen.
I don’t like him in terms of his failure to be a team player. I’m not even sure I like him as a kingmaker. Calling out numbers to make him look good, in a severely-disappointing election shows me he doesn’t care about the boots on the ground, but only how he looks.
Reagan faced the same Establishment hate and Media mocking, but he had a great way of playful rebuttal, with a twinkle in his eye and a little smile. America loved that. All the attacks mustered against him, failed, because he was able to gently turn it around on his attacker with a witty quip or a well thought out fact.
Reagan was also the author of the phrase, the 11th commandment, which was “Thou shall not attack a fellow Republican.”
Trump, on the other hand, has a serious ego problem. He cannot resist getting into a public verbal fight with anyone who criticizes him. While this was fresh and new in 2016, and propelled him into the presidency, it doesn’t work in 2022.
Also, the way Trump fights back is not nearly as good as Reagan’s style. Trump hasn’t got the charm of Reagan, and it’s beginning to hurt our side.
It is for these reasons that I must move on from Donald Trump. Sir, thank you for your incredibly wonderful service in 2016 through 2020. You made those years prosperous and sane. But it is time to move on.
I’m likely to get a ton of flak for this post. That’s okay, I can take it.
S'ok. If everyone had the same opinion, FR would be a very boring place. :^)
Maybe you're tired of the fight likes lots of other FReepers I see on here now .
That's not me, not at all. I'll always shoot-straight and call 'em like I see 'em. This is how I genuinely feel.
No media or news nudging... heck they cannot! I never watch them. Ever.
This is how I feel. I love President Trump's record and actions. I'm not as fond of how he handles criticism and cannot seem to discern when it is time to speak out and when it is time to remain quiet.
For example, he could have been a little more quiet previous to the midterms, especially as regards Ron DeSantis.
And he can do all that in 2028 after Trump runs and wins his second term...and he could best HELP that effort by being the vice-presidential candidate on a Trump-Desantis ticket in 2024
___________
No one with any brains would get on the ticket with Trump
Holy canoles!! VDH agrees with me? I’m in rarified company!
No Worries, LAZ !

I will support in the primaries the candidate that I believe has the best chance of winning the general election. I do not believe Trump can win the general election.
In the end, I will support whoever earns the GOP nomination.
I don't like voting for losers.
VDH is a deep thinker and a very wise man.
I put much stock in what he says.
He is one of my main “influencers”.
first let her win an election and gather a support team
I agree with you
You better bub. FYI: It will be Trump. He got 75 million votes last time he won, I expect he will push 80 MILLION VOTES!!! Not to worry, he's got this.
The Vice-Presidency is a nothingburger, and will always be.
The only time a Veep becomes important is when a President dies in office.
Always a bridesmaid, never a bride.
Like it or not, the media has successfully cemented in the mind of Joe and Jane Q. Public that Trump is somewhere between Hitler and Mussolini. And it doesn’t matter how false that image is; way too many people are convinced that it’s the truth.
The institutions (from media to academia to Deep State) were able to turn the Dobbs decision (which only returned the decision regarding abortion access to the state level, where it constitutionally was supposed to be) into some sort of “attack on women”, driving unmarried women to break for Democrats by **37 points**. That level of manipulation (or sheer degeneracy on part of those who think abortion is sacrosanct) is sobering.
So, barring Trump crossing the proverbial Rubicon to become an American Caesar (which, as a closet monarchist, I’m not necessarily opposed to; given the increasing degeneracy of the American body politic, as well as the sheer mockery that is our current system of elections, I’m of the opinion that our democratic system will not survive), I’m in line with your sentiments.
You will be voting for Trump in Nov. ‘24.
Get used to the idea.
Where else are you going to go?
This is true, but at my age, all excuses are valid, not just those coming from me!
We all get caught up in the busyness of things, and I’m no different, so I won’t throw rocks!
Just be good to yourself and it will all work out!

;o]
And if it's DeSantis? You gonna vote for him?
I look forward to hearing them. Would you please ping me?
absolutely
Easy.
Look at those three men.
Who has the most character?
LOL. Sure pal. Not gonna happen.
He will come back under another handle.
Stay alert!
