Vanity: Thank you for your service, but....
11/9/2022 | By Laz A. Mataz

Donald Trump is my favorite President, even more so than Ronald Reagan.

However, I think I’m moving on from him.

I like him in the role of a clarion-calling standard bearer, and his presidency was the best I have ever seen.

I don’t like him in terms of his failure to be a team player. I’m not even sure I like him as a kingmaker. Calling out numbers to make him look good, in a severely-disappointing election shows me he doesn’t care about the boots on the ground, but only how he looks.

Reagan faced the same Establishment hate and Media mocking, but he had a great way of playful rebuttal, with a twinkle in his eye and a little smile. America loved that. All the attacks mustered against him, failed, because he was able to gently turn it around on his attacker with a witty quip or a well thought out fact.

Reagan was also the author of the phrase, the 11th commandment, which was “Thou shall not attack a fellow Republican.”

Trump, on the other hand, has a serious ego problem. He cannot resist getting into a public verbal fight with anyone who criticizes him. While this was fresh and new in 2016, and propelled him into the presidency, it doesn’t work in 2022.

Also, the way Trump fights back is not nearly as good as Reagan’s style. Trump hasn’t got the charm of Reagan, and it’s beginning to hurt our side.

It is for these reasons that I must move on from Donald Trump. Sir, thank you for your incredibly wonderful service in 2016 through 2020. You made those years prosperous and sane. But it is time to move on.

I’m likely to get a ton of flak for this post. That’s okay, I can take it.

I think I want to save your post and paste it on Facebook.

The libs on there who fit your descriptions and post cute memes about how we need to vote so it won’t set us back 50 years will have a fit.

Again, the idea that OUR past was BAD. ALWAYS hatred from them - for our own family, our own culture, our own country.

I despise these America-hating assholes. But they succeed. They get their way constantly, while whining how oppressed they are.

Thank you for your thoughts!

As I understood it, Trump had a very clear but rather limited agenda which impelled him to run. Once elected, we saw him try to implement that exact agenda most of which was frustrated by the Rino/Dem coalition.

+ Number ONE- Take care of the vets!
Trump never wanted to hold office, he just got frustrated at politicians who would not even talk to him at banquets and fund raisers about vet issues. Those that did made so many broken promises that he decided he had to do it himself. I will tell you this was an unqualified success. He got this done. Got it done first, immediately, and it was done so well that the changes continue to this day.
++ Number TWO- The wall (and have Mexico pay for it)! The POTUS sincerely thought that the GOPe would help with this. All the compromises and staffing issues that today are derided by us, are perfectly reasonable in light of his true agenda. Laz, this is exactly like Reagan, who compromised on budget and deficit spending because he had to do one thing first. He had one job, namely, to win the cold war! But whereas president number 40 was completely successful in his one job, number 45 was not successful in securing the border. He really tried. I cannot imagine what he could have done differently even in hindsight. Everyone has forgotten that he proposed Romney as SecState, which also was very Reaganesque. Everyone has also forgotten that Reagan announced Richard Schweiker as his running mate in 1976, continuing the same compromise strategy to give us Bush 41.
+++ Number THREE- Trade. Energy. Bring manufacturing back to the US! Again, I say he really tried, but the Rinos would have none of it. We liked some things that were done, it was looking good, and he might have...(sigh)...anyway that is all gone now, so quickly, y’know.

Please correct me Laz, or anyone. I have no inside knowledge.
The Dimmwitcrats know what they are doing, and they believe it to be a necessary evil. Trump is “an existential threat” because he is a “climate change denier”. They must implement their climate agenda AT ALL COSTS, before it is too late. They know that the energy restrictions will be so painful the people will never ever go for it. Who cares about honest elections if the planet burns up? We’re all gonna die, so Trump must be stopped.
The Rinos know what they are doing, and they believe it to be a necessary evil. They are sure that Trump does not understand what Russia is doing and how Putin will destroy the US dollar. He even thinks he can negotiate with the ChiComs. They must save the financial system from this man who has the power to sway the people against the “endless wars”. Any theoretical debate by us over the petrodollar system is irrelevant if this is what the Rinos believe. Trump knows that climate change is a con, a scam.
Trump knows we can win in a post petrodollar world.
Therefore, he is an enemy who must be destroyed,

Please correct me.
The Democrats are trying to save planet earth.
The Rinos are trying to save the money system.
We are trying to save the enumerated rights in the Constitution. A noble goal, truly, but a doomed one without God’s help, because we can never play dirty, we can never play to win. Abraham Lincoln suspended the Bill of Rights so he could win the war, and he trusted himself to put everything back right again, after victory. Maybe he would have, but I doubt it.

From a man who spent a 14.5 hour day working the election polls in NH after a 9.5 hours drive from NYC, I have my own observations, but they have more to do with ourselves than with #45.

I will share them when I have time.

many Freepers seem to believe Kari lost because of Trump.

Kari hasn't lost yet. I don't think Trump had anything to do with yesterday. I believe it was a combination of yelling "Red Tsunami!" and cheating. People stayed home because they thought it was a done deal.

"Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?"

Love the John Belushi quote, Magnus! Let me ask you this: was it over in August 1942 in the battles of the Solomon Islands? It was from the perspective of someone serving on the USS Enterprise with the flattop elevator damaged from a Kamikaze attack and needing repairs at Pearl Harbor. But the battles overall was a victory for the U.S., particularly with Guadalcanal.

Why can't we do a little chest thumpin' today over retaking the House? Remember just a few months ago when it was all but certain the Dims would take the majority in the Senate? Can't we be a little happy that it looks like it's still a tie, perhaps slight majority for the GOP? Isn't it okay to be delighted that the GOP now controls 30 state legislatures vs the Dims controlling 18 (the GOP picking up 2 more state legislatures)? Can't we be happy that the GOP will still have more governorships than the Dims?

Trump would make a great President again. His problem is that his support has been slowly eroding for two years and the GOP do nothing party is losing support as unlike the Dems, they don’t support their President and they do nothing when they have the majority.

So the Party is imploding, in part thanks to the devious RINO’s, and Trump is shedding supporters, last night doesn’t help.

So if you are losing support, and not gaining support, it makes it tough to run again.

Trust me, it’s not just Trump’s loss of support, it’s most all Republicans that never deliver for their voters that now has the party in shambles.

If we can’t have a big wave with our current climate, Katy bar the door.

Trump Derangement Syndrome goes both ways.

Many have Type II.

They love Trump at all costs, worship him. Cannot see he does anything wrong. Everything he does is just fine. Anyone who critiques him is dirt.

Type I is for Dems. Of course nothing any Repub does is right.

Laz Laz Laz....I know I cannot change your mind or anyone elses. But, what do you suggest? Who would you like to see run in 2024? Desantis? Sure, but then, What happens to Florida.

For many the msm is the only news source. And they are all on the same page - “orange man bad”. That’s not Trump’s fault. The current (p)resident bashing candidates running for office as election deniers when all they want is for all legitimate votes to be counted. That’s not Trump’s fault. We have rinos (Mitch) in office who do everything to undermine strong America First candidates. That’s not Trump’s fault.

There were many reasons for last night. But to abandon Trump now? Hope this is just an angry rant and you see things different in the days and weeks ahead.

We love you Laz!!

If we abandon Trump who or what are we stuck with?

Under Trump the US enjoyed the following:

Gas price per gallon was about $2.30;
Inflation about 1.4%, mortgage,rates were half of what they are now;
Unemployment was low before Covid and before Blue Governors shut everything
down and we were in the midst of a V-shape recovery;
Tax decrease; tax laws promoted small businesses as well as large;
US enjoyed energy independence - No Green Agenda, no war on energy, No Paris Treaty;
No war in Ukraine; NATO paid its way;
China was quiet and we were winning the trade war;
US companies were bringing home the jobs due to tax treatment;
Peace in the Middle East aka Abraham Accords; US Embassy moved to Jerusalem;
Iran was isolated.

Sorry you don't recognize an excellent POTUS when you had one.

(Disclosure: I’ll vote for Trump if he is on the ballot but am hearing much
frustration today from Republicans given Oz/Walker.)

Posting this from Twitter as it fits this discussion -

Tim Anderson - former VA campaign chair:

The Trump effect on Virginia - let me explain.
While it appears likely Trump will announce he is
running for President - I will not be supporting
him.

While Trump was President, we lost a
supermajority in the House of Delegates, a
majority in the Senate and in 2019 Democrats
controlled all state government for 2 years
radically changing Virginia. After Trump lost, the
GOP gained Delegate seats back and won all 3
statewide offices. I call this the Trump effect.
One thing Trump does very well in Virginia is
mobilizing the left to vote against him and anyone
who supports him.
I care about Virginia more than anything. Trump
running for President is the absolute worst thing
that can happen to Virginia state politics. We
must take a different direction and the Virginia
GOP and Republicans must divorce from Trump
for the sake of Virginia and for the sake of the
nation.

I am going to take the first step and say these
things publicly that I know many of my colleagues
think. It’s a new day. It’s time to move on.

I agree. The America first ideas and policy that POTUS Trump brought forward to win in 2016 and build a new GOP political coalition we’re awesome and effective. However, with DJT delivering them it’s very easy to make it personal about DJT and not us. The media, DNC and parts of the GOP cannot stand Trump. He’s not strong as he was and still acts like a child. Our political enemies have made being a patriot American all about DJT, but so has he at every opportunity lately.

It’s time for someone else to pick up the USA first movement.

Trump’s post on Truth about his victories in the disaster yesterday and his attack on DeSantis was was unwarranted and incredibly calloused. I have supported his policies despite his personality. If I must, I will still vote for him but I will nolonger do so with pleasure.

I always wore small size jeans, looked pretty good in them too. It was hard to admit, but the day came when I realized my stomach discomfort and shortness of breath happened when I wore my jeans. Moral of the story, as hard as it was I had to get larger sized jeans.

Giving up on President Trump is exactly what Mitch McConnell wants you to do. You need to ask yourself, are you Mitch's B___h?

The RINOs who coordinated these attacks on President Trump need to be called out and sent packing. They're colluding with the Democrat half of the Uniparty to destroy the United States.
