Donald Trump is my favorite President, even more so than Ronald Reagan.
However, I think I’m moving on from him.
I like him in the role of a clarion-calling standard bearer, and his presidency was the best I have ever seen.
I don’t like him in terms of his failure to be a team player. I’m not even sure I like him as a kingmaker. Calling out numbers to make him look good, in a severely-disappointing election shows me he doesn’t care about the boots on the ground, but only how he looks.
Reagan faced the same Establishment hate and Media mocking, but he had a great way of playful rebuttal, with a twinkle in his eye and a little smile. America loved that. All the attacks mustered against him, failed, because he was able to gently turn it around on his attacker with a witty quip or a well thought out fact.
Reagan was also the author of the phrase, the 11th commandment, which was “Thou shall not attack a fellow Republican.”
Trump, on the other hand, has a serious ego problem. He cannot resist getting into a public verbal fight with anyone who criticizes him. While this was fresh and new in 2016, and propelled him into the presidency, it doesn’t work in 2022.
Also, the way Trump fights back is not nearly as good as Reagan’s style. Trump hasn’t got the charm of Reagan, and it’s beginning to hurt our side.
It is for these reasons that I must move on from Donald Trump. Sir, thank you for your incredibly wonderful service in 2016 through 2020. You made those years prosperous and sane. But it is time to move on.
I’m likely to get a ton of flak for this post. That’s okay, I can take it.
I’d be fine with Kari.
maybe I don’t need insults from someone who joined FR years aftercIbdid. :)
Forgot to mention, the post(s) I wanted to link to was deleted, so I did the next best thing ;^)
You'd be fine with Kari, because Kari is so FINE.....😍🥰😘😍
No, as I have posted numerous times, our election system is in a shambles. I have posted how to fix it, too, but for most Freepers, it’s too boring and technical, I guess, although I got positive responses from the more thoughtful Old Guard here.
I bombarded our state officials about it, and, while I hardly take credit for the change, my state now has paper ballots as of yesterday’s election.
Full disclosure: Electoral procedure is kinda my thing. I have supervised elections in other countries I did not hesitate to certify as free and fair in my AOR. No way would I have such certified our 2020 election.
Paper ballots and purple fingers.
But there’s the little problem of the Constitution saying it’s up to the State Legislature of each state. So if a state flips blue and plays games, it’ll stay blue forever.
I won’t miss that big mouth trouble making n00b. Obviously 2022 was about trashing the whole America First agenda and he was here to do his part.
Bye Cusserboy.
I agree Laz, and I’ve just come to that conclusion in the last couple of days. I think Trump would lose, in part by magnifying the turnout on the Left.
I’ll vote for him if he wins nomination, but I think our chances are better with the seasoned Governor DeSantis. I think what they did to Trump is a travesty and tragedy, so many people should be in jail for what they did to him. And I’d love him to get revenge. But that isn’t in the cards.
I’m going to get behind DeSantis with a heavy heart, but I’m certain it’s for the best. I’m not blind that they will also demonize DeSantis, it’s what they do. But they will have had almost a decade to turn Trump into a lightning rod for hate.
Our best opportunity will come from an arrogant Biden, who thinks he’s the greatest president ever, doubling and tripling down on destruction, and blasting us into a Great Depression that is going to destroy masses 9f people’s lives and livelihoods…which will start in days and weeks, not months. An experienced Governor, who will be in the middle of the action fighting all this in his own state gives us the strongest case to make to start restoring what will be by then a destroyed nation.
I, as well, am moving to the DeSantis side and hope Trump will bow out and work himself to the bone helping us get a good team in place to Save an America that will be in dire straits.
Trump's time has passed.
Convince me why Trump is better than Ron DeSantis? You can't.
Wow. Great post. Where is this you live?
Wet blanket.
Oh, and BTW, purple fingers are stupid. We used invisible ink that could not be washed off for weeks in the electoral is I supervised. Have a nice day.
Is DeSantis running? I thought he just ran for Governor of Florida.
What if he doesn’t run. Who is left?
For what it is worth to you. I am with you.
I like Trump and respect him for what he did. My concern is now electability. He’s ruffled too many feathers along the way. And no doubt many of them needed it.
All I know is that we cannot afford to lose in 2024. And biden will not be the Dems candidate.
Says the guy with the Zot ping list.
Way to go take grow FR </s>
“It’s time for REAL conservatives to move on from the Republican Party, Laz.”
Felt this way for years now, without a party that represents me. The GOP has been far too “go along to get along” and “reach across the aisle”, when a grenade across the aisle is what is needed.
As I said, I’d support Trump enthusiastically if he is the nominee. But I believe DeSantis is now our best option as nominee…of course, that’s if he runs. I am hoping he does.
