Donald Trump is my favorite President, even more so than Ronald Reagan.
However, I think I’m moving on from him.
I like him in the role of a clarion-calling standard bearer, and his presidency was the best I have ever seen.
I don’t like him in terms of his failure to be a team player. I’m not even sure I like him as a kingmaker. Calling out numbers to make him look good, in a severely-disappointing election shows me he doesn’t care about the boots on the ground, but only how he looks.
Reagan faced the same Establishment hate and Media mocking, but he had a great way of playful rebuttal, with a twinkle in his eye and a little smile. America loved that. All the attacks mustered against him, failed, because he was able to gently turn it around on his attacker with a witty quip or a well thought out fact.
Reagan was also the author of the phrase, the 11th commandment, which was “Thou shall not attack a fellow Republican.”
Trump, on the other hand, has a serious ego problem. He cannot resist getting into a public verbal fight with anyone who criticizes him. While this was fresh and new in 2016, and propelled him into the presidency, it doesn’t work in 2022.
Also, the way Trump fights back is not nearly as good as Reagan’s style. Trump hasn’t got the charm of Reagan, and it’s beginning to hurt our side.
It is for these reasons that I must move on from Donald Trump. Sir, thank you for your incredibly wonderful service in 2016 through 2020. You made those years prosperous and sane. But it is time to move on.
I’m likely to get a ton of flak for this post. That’s okay, I can take it.
Well, I’m glad I didn’t disappoint you. :-P
Way to tell it, Laz!
I was behind Trump in 2016 mainly because he was not Hill-liar-y. I feared what an administration with that hag in charge would do to this country. Now, sadly, 6 years later, with Biden in charge, what I feared then has come to fruition now. Trump kept the wolves at the door for 4 years as best he could, but his ego, as you say, got in the way then and still does to this day. For that reason alone, I concur that it’s time to move on from Mr. Trump.
I think it’s time for conservatives and other Republicans to use a line from Mr. Trump’s old “Apprentice” show on him: “YOU’RE FIRED!”
>>>>Re ypt r: “As far as behavior, Reagan was too nice a guy and he was Teflon because everyone knew he WAS a nice guy, never mind his genius retorts in terms of “tone”, etc. Reagan was impossible to hate….and basically anyone who did or seemed to, was kind of considered a nut job.”<<<<
Well said. Character really does matter.

Do you somehow think the Dems wont “hit on” some other Republican Presidential candidate with fraudulent votes if they thought they might lose honestly and the candidate would try to Drain the Swamp?
Think about that.....the 1 thing we do know is Trump scared the living hell out of the Deep State...and exposed how deeply embedded it is.....and they had to get rid of him to save their own asses ....even if it WAS blatant
The only way I can see a Republican being “allowed” to win is if he or she would sweep all the corruption under the rug so some people could think we still have a “democracy” instead of a Banana Republic ...
Maybe you're tired of the fight likes lots of other FReepers I see on here now .. and that's what you want at this point.....to pretend everything is fine if we have an insider RINO in office like Romney or McCain would have been...they would have NEVER exposed that we KNOW now because they are part of it Anyways...that's just IMHO..but I welcome yours..
Trump would probably win the primary, but will Trump win the general election in 2024? Will he win PA, Arizona or Nevada?
***************************************
Maybe, maybe not.
I don’t think they picked the order of the primary states yet. You can bet that the early states will not be favorable to Trump.
Look, it’s the troll again!
I guess our election system is “safe and secure” the same way the clot shots were “safe and effective.”
Here we go again on FR. Changing cults again.
More 50/50 BS arguments for two more years.
Remember Cruz vs Trump in 2016 primary?
>>> Re your: “I give the credit for Florida’s win last night to the Republican Party of Florida. They worked very hard to get the wins in FL. I live in a blue county and it just flipped red last night. We had canvassers, callers, flyers, ads, poll workers and watchers (which I was one). There were meetings in small towns that brought people together. Plus a legislature that really worked to get reasonable laws passed that still allowed some abortions, critical race theory out of the schools and sexual orientation out of the classroom under a certain age. It all worked for us and the state. And of course a great governor in Ron DeSantis.”<<<<
Thank you for posting this and for being a poll watcher. DeSantis, as leader of the Republican Party in Florida deserves some credit, too, for his leadership and organizational skills.
Prior to the 2020 election, seeing the switch this mail-in voting, I could easily foresee that election would be ripe for fraud. But what did Turn do about it? Nothing! It was so frustrating to me to see that. DeSantis was proactive on the election issue and had the boots on the ground to ensure success.
According to middle of the road, fence sitting, finger in the wind conservatives, Trumps endorsement of McCoward should be detrimental.
I mean, they are blaming Trump and turning their backs.
Plenty of blame but most to McCarthy, Turtle and useless Ronna McRomney. Where were they? Too busy worried about Cowfartski in Alaska losing to another Republican.
Too busy backing only those loyal to them.
Vance won big in OH. Why didn’t Oz or Walker?
Ty for the ping.. looks like I called it right.
BTW, I looked CatHerd’s postings over. She’s on our team. Not a troll.
313 posts and counting.
ON this you’re wrong, Laz.
She trolls the COVID threads.
Which is an entirely different can of worms than this cheating-ridden election.
You’re right.
He has the ego and the manners of a three-year-old.
DeSantis for President in 2024!
Kari Lake for Veep.
Ok so she has a different opinion on Covid. Otherwise, for the most part, she seems pretty conservative.
To put it differently, I won't be happy until Kari Lake is on top.
FReepmail.
Lol!
Many moons ago, when I still had a 22” waist, I nearly panicked after my jeans were boiled (yes, literally boiled!) for over an hour in a Communist washing machine. I finally managed to zip up lying prone on the bed. I already knew Communism sucked lemons, but I was really cursing it that morning.
Carry on, ladies, and best to you!
