Bet Newsom is in play for the job less then 90 days.

1. Biden steps down or forced out

2. Newsom to take Harris place

3.Harris steps down Newsom takes the spot

Democrats need a fast plan for 2024 and nobody is in the wings

Yes, most people seem to think that it is a way to remove a President from office without getting the required two-thirds vote in the Senate finding him guilty of a crime.

The 25th amendment provides a way to fill a vacancy in the Vice Presidency and has been used in that way twice. But if both President and Vice President were to die at the same time and the Speaker of the House became Acting President, there doesn't seem to be a way to select a new VP. Of course if Nancy Pelosi became Acting President she would try to get people to consider her the President.

A white male replacing a black/Asian female? A lot of Democrats’ heads would explode if that happened. They would have to promise to select a new VP who was female and identified as belonging to some non-white ethnic category.

If the President and Vice President both die, the Speaker of the House becomes the next President, not Acting President.

Far more productive, IMO, would be for the Reps, if they get a majority, to move to impeach Merrick Garland.

Did Congress pass a law to that effect? I don't see it anywhere in the Constitution.

The original text of the Constitution spoke of "what Officer shall then act as President." When William Henry Harrison died, John Tyler called himself President and got away with it, although some people thought he was only the Acting President. In any case the 25th amendment addressed that point and said that the Vice President shall become President.

Possible but replacing a female halfrican with a straight white guy isn’t going to play well with a fair amount of Dems.

"McCarthy has already said an impeachment is off the table"

It could be McCarthy is counting on democrats to push for impeachment. Until then everyday biden is in office decomposing degrades the democrat brand image.

Why would Democrats push for impeachment of Biden?

I see a chance for this to happen. Post red wave the Demcrats throw Biden under the bus. But first they get rid of Kamala. Then the ask the Republicans to invoke the 25th on Joe and they ( Democrats) will go along wit it. If Joe refuses to step down “to spend more time with his family” they wil shelve the 25th..

The Democrats may ask the Republicans to impeach Joe. It’s that bad.

Why would Democrats push for impeachment of Biden?

The Cadaver-in-Chief is not going to run in '24 so the Demonrats want a fresh young face in the WH to run from there. I can see Biden being forced to resign, like Nixon.

I don’t believe you. If and when that happens, I might change my mind, but not one second before.

I find that far fetched, as long as Biden cruises along as he is. But I will see you and raise you in the bizarreness department should China invade Taiwan and Biden just completely falls apart. That would be one for the history books.

You watch. Next week it all changes. The Demonrats ( the political arm of the MSM) will use Joe as a scape goat for the Red Wave™ election and I think they will force him into early retirement. Joe will have 0 political capital after next week. None at all.
