Deviled Egg ping!......................
One of the 5 major food groups- I would marry a good platter of deviled eggs
We have people in our family (one in particular) who will eat a plate of deviled eggs all by himself. Despite being popular with almost everyone, no one makes them for family gatherings except my mom & me. Mom has gotten to the point where she says she’ll bring them and then I have to make them. I’ve gotten it down to a fairly ‘easy’ process and I also have a pastry bag/tip where I can pipe the filling into the shells for a beautiful presentation. For sure, we’ll be doing them for Thanksgiving.
I’m partial to a bit of horseradish (a friend put me on to this) so if I make them for myself, I’ll add it. For family gatherings, we leave it out. The paprika goes in an old salt shaker - makes sprinkling on the eggs really easy.
Yay! I was making some today anyway… Add Bacon and a tiny amount of honey if your bacon is low carb. These are the best snacks.
Dang.
We ordered out for calzones last night from a nearby pizza place because, of course, it was National Calzone Day.
Now I have to rustle up some deviled eggs.
Do you use mayonnaise or Miracle Whip?
Wal Mart Deviled Egg Macaroni Salad...pretty decent
Very leery of deviled eggs at potlucks and other such events; got salmonella poisoning from them at a time wedding reception as a teenager.
I add a little Branston Pickle. A friend taught me that one and it’s delicious.
Bit of horseradish.
After Cinnamon-braised Clam Calzone yesterday, I can’t wait to see the delicacy for today! /s
My family calls them ‘Jesus eggs’. The devil can’t make an egg.
I use room temperature salted butter and Hellmann’s for both deviled eggs and egg salad. A little sugar also!
Deviled Eggs and beer let your presence e known.
We’re on it here at work today! Between last night and early this AM, I made 72 halves! Served with carrot & celery sticks and Marie’s creamy ranch! Yum!
