Whether cracking a few cold ones on your back deck or cozying up with a warming stout at a pub in the fall, you gotta love a good beer. In fact, Americans reportedly drink about 6.3 billion gallons of beer every year.
But, as any consumer of domestic, imported, and/or craft beer knows, not all beers are created equal. And some beers simply aren't worth the price—whether they're overpriced for what they actually are (some bottles cost over $200!) or because of where you're buying them (ballparks and stadiums, we're looking at you).
Read on for our list of the most expensive beers and decide for yourself if such brews as barrel-aged high-ABV beers, ballpark pours, or day drinking at the airport is worth your hard-earned dollars. Plus, don't miss These Are the 25 Worst Beers in the World.

We have a lot of craft brews in Colorado. I personally like Upslope, but there are a lot of good ones, reasonably priced. Occasionally, I like a good Pilsner from Germany or Czechia and those are reasonably priced here too.
Steel Reserve isn’t that bad. Fighting Cock whiskey is that bad.
When I was in college, my go-to beer was Rainier Ale, 6% ABV and cheaper than Bud. Worst beers were Heidelberg and Buckhorn (the latter was Olympia’s discount brand), about which the best you can say is that they’re no worse warm than cold.
Still like a cold beer on a hot day, but now it’s 1 or 2 instead of 6.
I’ve had that one. It has a strange flavor I can’t put my finger on. Didn’t like it much.
KBS rubs me the wrong way, I prefer CBS.
Also, they have another barrel-aged which I love, Backwoods Bastard (looks like Gandalf on the label).
Hard to find; sometimes I can find a store 4 hours away which stocks it. 😭
I’m at zero booze now. They say a couple drinks a week is healthy.
So I’m good until I hit 437 years old…
Don’t let the smooth taste fool ya!
It’s really amazing that Moosehead tastes the way you imagine moose pizzle would taste. I took one taste once, spit it out and thought it made Bud actually taste good.
Yeah I think Nati Light is too expensive too, I started drinking it in 1985 and it was only 1.99 for a 6 pack then. I’ve had a great job and just retired with all of the money I’ve saved up by not buying expensive beer to just piss out. Life is grand with my Nati Lights at night!
That looks interesting.
Good news! They offer that beer in Indiana, and I found some at Total Wine. Will show Mr. FF and see if he would like to try that.
Yeah, I got quite far ahead back in the day, too. My wife quit drinking 10 or 12 years ago, so I mostly did also. I won’t go to a bar because there isn’t one within walking distance of home, and a DUI isn’t the casual matter it was 40 or 50 years ago.
LOL, is that like SchraderBrau?
“LOL, is that like SchraderBrau?”
I only ever found the one bottle. I may never know... ;-)
Cheroots and Delaware River water beers...I’m in!
;)
Probably the iron molecules....................
