An 82-year-old Home Depot worker was pushed to the ground by a thief after he tried to stop him from stealing power tools in North Carolina.
The unidentified victim was working the outside station booth in what appears to be the garden area at a Hillsborough Home Depot on Tuesday when he noticed a man in a dark hoodie rolling a cart full of power tools.
The man can be seen slowly approaching the suspect, who has not been identified, and placing a gentle hand on the man's arm.
Surveillance footage shows the suspect, who was wearing a black Calvin Klein sweatshirt and a mask, thrust a forceful arm across the older man's shoulders, shoving him to the ground as he kept walking.
The man falls into a potted plant and struggles to stand up. Police reported the man was 'injured,' but it is unclear the extent of them.
The suspect rolled out what appeared to be stealing a Ryobi 1900 PSI Electric Pressure Washer, which retails for $179; a 2700 PSI Brushless Electric Pressure Washer, which retails for $419; and a 2000 PSI Electric Pressure Washer, which retails for $239.
Police said the suspect fled the scene in a white, four-door, Hyundai Sonata with a 'blank' temporary tag.

I stopped a shoplifter girl that was running out of a carhart store as I was walking in. I had my arm across the door on door handle and then shoved the girl to the floor. The women working in the store ran up to me yelling to just let her go and the girl ran up the street swearing at me being white. The store employees told they are not supposed to stop shoplifters; they must like them I guess. nuts todays world
I believe Hillsborough is quite dark. An old town in the tobacco belt.
82 years ago, it was 1940. perhaps this man’s dad was a young farm lad, maybe a year from being drafted to leave home and risk life and limb in a desperate fight save the world. i guess the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
i wonder who the thief’s dad is?
Um, no. Hillsborough NC is in Orange County, just north of the University of NC at Chapel Hill. Check the demographics for Hillsborough. You will find your assumption is unfounded.
Home Depot employees are advised by management never to interfere with thefts-in-progress. Instead they are trained and required to thank the thief for shopping at the store and then notify management. Even following a thief out into the parking lot to obtain a license plate number is condemned. Failure to adhere to this rule can result in termination of employment. Poor old guy is probably going to lose his job. Nothing new. THD has been “woke” for years.
It’s OK. They’ll raise prices for honest customers to cover the cost.
Another form of reparations.
Twenty percent joggers in Hillsboro. Just take a drive around outside of the courthouse.
That’s absolutely crazy!
Black privilege.
Although this happened in North Carolina, I have to read about it in the UK Daily Mail? Why?
Naaah. Stores have been sued by this type of scum. It gets very expensive
It’s almost like the American liberal media hides these kinds of stories. 🤔🤔🤔
Nah, that can’t be!
What you say is not quite as true as you think it is. I've seen AP guys get pretty aggressive with thieves. Cashiers are trained to look in boxes and buckets to make sure nothing is hidden in them.
Maybe it's regional, but my store didn't put up with that crap.
I recently bought one of those Ryobi $179 pressure washers from Home Depot. It is very compact, electric and works great ! I did not realize I could just walk out with it without paying. I am a real sucker to foolishly pay for stuff from Home Depot. Next time I go there, I will wear a hoody and just take what I want.
So does the thief!
Agree...this ass should be sliced up alive on a table saw after multiple holes from a portable electric drill.
That’s why we weren’t allowed to take those orange aprons home. Someone could steal it, walk into any Home Depot wearing it, and walk out with whatever they wanted.
