Home Depot employees are advised by management never to interfere with thefts-in-progress. Instead they are trained and required to thank the thief for shopping at the store and then notify management. Even following a thief out into the parking lot to obtain a license plate number is condemned. Failure to adhere to this rule can result in termination of employment. Poor old guy is probably going to lose his job. Nothing new. THD has been “woke” for years.

Have you ever worked for Home Depot? I was a 5 year Associate, Platinum Homer Award recipient.

What you say is not quite as true as you think it is. I've seen AP guys get pretty aggressive with thieves. Cashiers are trained to look in boxes and buckets to make sure nothing is hidden in them.

Maybe it's regional, but my store didn't put up with that crap.

If more white people started doing this shoplifting thing maybe the stores will start to wake up. I want to know if I walked into Home Depot and took a couple electric saws, will they try to stop me or report me? What they are doing is so wrong on many different levels. Theft loss ends up in higher prices for the consumers. That is not fair to their customers but it seems they don’t care.
