I enjoy watching the sumo tournaments held in various parts of Japan every odd numbered month. There are a lot of cool techniques where smaller, seemingly weaker opponents can notch a win. I suspect this lucky mountain climber was a student of some of them.
One of my favorite sumo stars is a wrestler called Tobizaru (the flying monkey) who is a master of these techniques. While I don't think he has every emerged as a tournament champion, he always seems to win close to about 2/3rds of his matches.
