I have read fictional books and historical books about the plague. You are right. Humans will bounce back. Whole towns and Rural areas alike.
It is important to make sure our future generations will know what caused it and what happened. I am not sure that will be the same. They can wipe the internet with a cloth and most the recorded history of these past several decades will be gone.
