Iranian Regime national tv Channel One hacked about an hour ago. During a broadcast of Khamenie speech, a red crosshair appeared over his face and chanting of Women. Life. Freedom. There was writing to the side saying "Rise up. Join us". Also 4 photos at the bottom of the screen of young people killed and additional writing: "The blood of our youth is dropping from your paws".

Also, there was a huge banner in the middle of Tehran highway today that read: We are no longer afraid of you. We will fight.

Also, attempted attack on IRI ambassador in Denmark. Her bodyguard was stabbed. Diplomatic Security intervened before the attacker could stab the ambassador.

Rewards for Justice is offering a reward of up to $10 million for information leading to the disruption of the financial mechanisms of Hizballah. Muhammad Ja’far Qasir, also known as Shaykh Salah and Hossein Gholi, is a key Hizballah financier, who provides funding for Hizballah operations through a number of illegal smuggling and procurement activities and other criminal enterprises.

Qasir is also a critical conduit for financial disbursements from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Qods Force (IRGC-QF) that are used to fund Hizballah’s activities. He helps to oversee several front companies used to mask the IRGC-QF’s role in the sale of oil and other extractives, a crucial source of income for Hizballah, IRGC-QF, the brutal regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, and other illicit actors. In addition, Qasir leads Hizballah’s Unit 108, which coordinates closely with the IRGC-QF to facilitate the transfer of weapons, technology, and other support from Syria to Lebanon.

Iran Update, June 1, 2023

Iran has been building and training forces to target and kill US personnel and expel US forces from Syria.
Some of the arms and training that Iran has provided to militias in Syria could also support transfers of advanced conventional weapons.
Iran is attempting to assuage Western concerns about its nuclear program, likely to preempt the upcoming International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) report that will detail Iran’s noncompliance with its nuclear safeguard obligations.

Russia became Iran's largest investor - Iranian information agency IRNA

Chief of Iran-Russia Joint Chamber of Commerce Hadi Tizhoush Taban said fhat Russia invested $2.7 billion in Iran's oil industry - about 45% of the total number of investments into Iran (October 2021-January 2023). The share of national currencies in the trade between two countries grew up to 60%.

A comment: This is not actual investment, its just getting around sanctions, selling russian oil under Ayatollah flag

A senior Iranian cleric says around 50,000 of Iran's 75,000 mosques are closed, showing the declining numbers of Iranians attending.

Expressing regret over the low numbers engaged in worship, Mohammad Abolghassem Doulabi, who serves as the liaison between Ebrahim Raisi’s administration and the country's seminaries, said on Thursday that the numbers are a “worrying admission” for a state built around the principles of Islam. He made the remarks as growing numbers of Iranians of all ages are becoming weary of the regime's justification of Islam as the base of its brutal dictatorship, reflected by months of violent protest since September in the wake of the death in morality policy custody of Mahsa Amini, arrested for the inappropriate use of her hijab.

Iran Update, June 2, 2023

1) Iran is training its militias in Syria to use a range of improvised and advanced weapons to attack US personnel in Syria. Iranian-backed militias in Iraq may conduct attacks against US forces in Syria.
2). Iran likely calculates that it has achieved strategic depth and using militias in Iraq and Syria to attack US forces will keep conflict confined to Syria.
3). Iranian media circulated reports of an IRGC-conducted a drone strike targeting Kurdish Iranian separatist groups in the Iraqi Kurdistan region on June 2.
4). The Iranian regime is pursuing increased gas swaps with Turkmenistan, likely to preempt electricity shortages in the summer that could fuel internal unrest. https://www.understandingwar.org/backgrounder/iran-update-june-2-2023

Iran's Foreign Minister @Amirabdolahian: I sincerely congratulate my brother Hakan Fidan on his appointment as the Foreign Minister of Türkiye Republic. We held several in-person talks. He is a professional and wise diplomat.

https://twitter.com/IranIntl_En/status/1665193321411559429

Is this a surprise?

Background:

A Turkish asset working for Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force reported to his handler in Turkey that head of Turkish intelligence agency MIT (Milli İstihbarat Teşkilatı) Hakan Fidan was a trusted man who shared the mullahs’ revolutionary vision and harbored anti-US and anti-Israel sentiments.

According to confidential documents obtained by Nordic Monitor, Turkish police who were investigating Quds Force cells in Turkey as part of a counterterrorism probe discovered a collection of resumés handed over to Naser Ghafari, a Quds Force representative in Turkey. Among the CVs was a profile report on Fidan, then deputy undersecretary of MIT. Fidan was appointed MIT chief in May 2010.

“He [Fidan] wants to wipe the United States and Israel from the face of the earth, he loves the [Iranian] revolution, he wants it to succeed, he believes the [Iranian] revolution is under the control of Shiite Muslims with universal views and he loves it for it,” the profile note said of Fidan in a document handed over to the Quds Force.

The profile note underlined that Fidan had been known to Quds Force operatives for 15 years, suggesting that Fidan was enlisted as an asset some time in 1994, when he was a noncommissioned officer in the Turkish army. In the referral section, which listed friends of Fidan, a convicted militant as well as anti-Israel Turks were listed as people who would vouch for the head of Turkish intelligence. Among Fidan’s referrals was Duran Özdemir, who was indicted, tried and convicted on charges relating to Iran's covert operations in Turkey in the 1990s

Iran Update, June 2, 2023

1. Iranian leaders in Syria met in Damascus to plan for a potential US attack and recruited locals to target US forces in Deir ez Zor Province with IEDs. This supports CTP’s assessment that Iran may be preparing to direct proxy attacks against US forces in Syria.

2. A new Iranian-backed militia in Iraq signaled its readiness to attack US forces in Iraq. The Iranian-backed militia Harakat Hezbollah al Nujaba (HAN) also plans to attack US forces in Baghdad.

3. The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) is continuing to deploy artillery and other materiel to Iran’s northwest border with Iraq. This raises CTP’s confidence that the IRGC may engage in a short-term military conflict to confront perceived Israeli threats in Iraqi Kurdistan.

4. Iran is likely attempting to capitalize on perceived tensions between the United States and the UAE to weaken the US-led multinational maritime security partnership in the Persian Gulf.

[UK:]On behalf of France, the United Kingdom and Germany, I thank Director General Grossi for his latest report GOV/2023/24, and Deputy Director General Aparo for his technical briefing.

First: Iran has further expanded its stockpile of 5%, 20% and 60% enriched uranium. Iran's total enriched uranium stockpile is now more than 21 times the JCPoA limit. Iran's stockpile of 60% enriched uranium has increased by almost one third, to 114.1 kg in the form of UF6, and is now almost three IAEA significant quantities. This is almost three times the amount of nuclear material from which the possibility of manufacturing a nuclear explosive device cannot be excluded. All of us on this Board must see this as a major expansion of Iran's nuclear programme, raising serious questions about the intent of its activities.

Second: Iran has continued to install additional advanced centrifuge cascades, permanently improving its enrichment capabilities and hollowing out the value of the JCPoA.

Third: Given the seriousness of activities considered to be key steps for the development of a nuclear weapon, we also recall the significant work on uranium metal previously reported, and associated critical irreversible knowledge gains. We continue to urge Iran not to commence any further work related to the production of uranium metal, which also reduces the non-proliferation value of the JCPoA.

We will continue consultations, alongside international partners, on how best to address Iran's unabated and dangerous nuclear escalation. We call upon Iran to de-escalate the situation and we expect swift and concrete further steps to implement the Joint Statement commitments on IAEA verification and monitoring. We remain committed to taking every diplomatic step to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. We ask the Director General to keep the Board of Governors informed ahead of the September Board, and provide earlier updates as necessary, and would ask for this report to be made public.

Israeli, Italian Agents Met On Lake Over Iran, Russia Military Alliance

Four people, including a Mossad agent, died when a small yacht capsized in a lake in northern Italy late last month with new information coming to light suggesting it was more than a freak accident.

Italian daily Corriere della Sera alleged that the Russian oligarchs used their Swiss bank accounts to transfer funds to Iranian companies in order to bypass the sanctions against Moscow and Tehran. The newspaper also highlighted the joint operation conducted by the Mossad and Italian intelligence, saying the operation targeted the proliferation of non-conventional weapons and their potential transfer to a “hostile Middle Eastern country.”

Italian newspaper La Repubblica confirmed that the intelligence operation sought to obstruct the arrival of weapons of mass destruction to Iran as well as preventing the acquisition of “dual-use” items that could serve both civilian and military purposes.

Fmr Iranian foreign minister https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohammad_Javad_Zarif used the Iranian Clubhouse social app. Here is a summary by Iran International [I added #]:

Thread:
1 Iran's former foreign minister @JZarif in a Clubhouse meeting: The @NIACouncil did not receive even a single penny from Iran. There were groups who were paid, but NIAC was not one of them. My cooperation with NIAC was limited to exchange of information.

2 Zarif: Hossein Taeb (then chief of IRGC Intelligence) was always trying to link me to NIAC, and radical figures in both sides tried to make the same allegations because @NIACouncil held critical stances on the situation of human rights in Iran.

3 Zarif: In nuclear talks, we used to send (the transcripts of) all negotiations and proceedings to Khamenei. Sometimes he'd give comments, and sometimes not. In some cases, he expressed his opposition, and sometimes, we told him we were unable to achieve a certain objective.

4 Zarif: The Muscat negotiation (with the US held during Ahmadinejad's presidency) was a taboo-breaking move which was made by my dear brother Dr. Ali Akbar Salehi (Ahmadinejad's foreign minister) despite Saeid Jalili’s stonewalling and Ahmadinejad's objection.

5 Zarif: You could see a range of issues - from piracy to Bahrain and Syria - in the agenda of Jalili’s negotiations, while we weren't allowed to discuss anything other than nuclear issue. In nuclear talks, they were trying to convince the West, hence the reason for their failure.

6 Zarif: Had Israel been really worried about Iran getting a nuke weapon, it should have supported JCPOA but it prevented (the regime from) acquiring a nuke. But their project was to make it an issue of security. So Ahmadinejad's threat to move toward a nuke served Israel's favor.

7 Zarif: @DeputySecState claimed that @JZarif didn't know the difference between “lift” and “suspend” (on sanctions). Ask her which one of us has more experience at the UN and its language? Not one of those P5+1 ministers knew the UN's language as much as Lavrov and I did.

8 Zarif: Those who claim the use of the word “suspend” for the lifting of anti-Iran sanctions in JCPOA’s text helped Donald Trump reinstate the sanctions are lying. They claim
@JZarif was asleep or hadn't read the JCPOA, but Trump also left Paris Agreement. Was the EU asleep too?

9 Zarif: Those who claim @JZarif must have obtained guarantees from the US know nothing about international agreements. I know many of our friends are in love with Trump and would have loved to see him winning the election, but please stop glorifying his moves against Iran.

10 Zarif: The word “suspension (of sanctions)” was added to the JCPOA’s annexes, not the main text, in the last minute, with the consent of my deputies and without my knowledge. I admit that. But it had no impact on the removal of anti-Iran sanctions.

11 Zarif: The anti-Israel slogan written on the missile (fired by the IRGC) helped the other side make the issue of Iran (and its nuclear program) an issue of security.

12 Zarif: The Saudis didn't want JCPOA to be finalized. Months before the deal (in Nov.) they promised the US to lower the oil prices so much so that Iran would give in to other side's demands. But the final deal was not much different from what we agreed upon before Saudis’ move.

13 Zarif: Jan. 16, 2016, the JCPOA implementation Day, was a day of mourning in Saudi Arabia. They were isolated in the world, long before Khashoggi’s killing. At the peak of their isolation after their executions, the attack on their embassy in Iran helped Saudis play innocent.

14 Zarif at the Clubhouse meeting: I strongly welcome restoration of ties with Saudi Arabia, but we should move forward with open eyes.

15: Zarif: In April 2019, I was the one who asked Rouhani to threaten JCPOA parties to leave NPT should they fail to implement their commitments. He accepted my suggestion which was a “chicken game” but SNSC didn't find it “rational” & expressed surprise I'd become “revolutionary”!

16: Zarif: John Kerry and I knew the JCPOA could not remain alive if it didn't have any economic benefits for the US. That was why we agreed that Obama issue an executive order allowing Iran to purchase civilian airplanes from Boeing and Airbus based on humanitarian reasons.

17 Zarif: Another great initiative by Kerry was to allow foreign branches of US companies to invest in Iran. That'd have guaranteed the US’ economic benefits from the JCPOA. However, Iran only accepted $13 billion worth of investment offers out of $85 bln worth of applications.

18 Zarif: Khamenei was not opposed to American investments in Iran, but was opposed to being dependent on American investors for basic commodities. Had Iran accepted all investment applications, Trump would have a $85-billion problem for leaving the JCPOA.

19 Zarif: Some American companies also failed to invest in Iran because of the influence of Jewish and Saudi/Emirati businesspeople. Emiratis told those companies ‘you must choose either the UAE or Iran’ for investment.

20 Zarif: In nuclear negotiations, the Europeans had become even stricter than the US, and insisted that Tehran must destroy all its centrifuges. However, we didn't accept their request.

21 Zarif: Some of the sanctions imposed by the Trump administration had nothing to do with the JCPOA. The sanctions against the Supreme Leader and his office which also included me were among them. While I was sanctioned due to affiliation with SL, I'm being attacked by hardliners.

22 Zarif: Trump's Foreign Secretary Tillerson mostly talked about ethical issues rather than JCPOA during our meetings. Later @mikepompeo was the one who ruined everything based on “ideological” views. He didn't believe in negotiation despite Trump who was in favor of meeting me.

23 Zarif: From the very first day in office, Tillerson realized that he was not in the same boat as Trump and his admin. He just remained in office as long as the tax problem with his ExxonMobil shares was resolved. He didn't have anything to say during the Joint Commission talks.

24 Zarif: When Macron came to visit me in Paris, he told me that Trump was ready to accompany him in the meeting with Iran's foreign minister, but I wasn't allowed to meet him. Trump also invited me to visit him at the Oval Office thru a senator close to him.

25 Zarif: Whenever the Islamic Republic's opposition comes to the conclusion that people are detached from the regime, they'd definitely downplay our power. We must accept that people are our patrons and must value their vote and support which gives us power to negotiate.

26 Zarif: Iran's authorities must know they can't stand against the US economic and military power. But Iran can exert political pressure on Europe. Europeans had poor economic performance due to their ties with the US, but in politics, they helped us get leadership positions at UN.

27 Zarif: Trump had no problem with my plan presented to Macron in Biarritz, but @mikepompeo and @AmbJohnBolton were against it. I asked Putin to convey the plan to Trump personally, so that Pompeo wouldn't be involved. Trump agreed, but Pompeo found out in another way & blocked it.

28 Zarif: Jared Kushner and Steven Mnuchin were the two figures who were in favor of talks with Iran. Bolton, however, was on the MEK Organization's payroll, and under the influence of their lies against the Islamic Republic, played a key role in convincing Trump to leave JCPOA.

29 Zarif: There's no chance for achieving a deal better than the JCPOA. If the 2015 deal dies, no deal can meet the demands of the Western side. Someone said about me that ‘Zarif can even sell ice to the Eskimo’. I believe you can't sell ice to the Eskimo twice.

30 Zarif on why American Iranian businessman Siamak Namazi wasn't released during the Rouhani’s tenure: You should ask those who are detaining him. I did my best to secure his release.

31 Zarif: The (IRGC’s) shoot-down of the Ukrainian airliner in January 2020 was an unforgivable sin.

https://twitter.com/IranIntl_En/status/1666214659962052611

There will be many comments on this in the coming days.

Iran Update, June 7, 2023

Iranian and Russian military officials met to discuss expelling the United States from Syria, which may indicate Russia’s intent to help facilitate Iranian-backed attacks against US forces.

Iran’s Parliamentary Internal Affairs Committee has proposed amending the parliamentary election law, which will likely empower hardliners to retain power in the March 2024 parliamentary election. The proposed election law amendments could decrease public faith in Iran’s electoral process and reduce voter participation in the March 2024 parliamentary election.

Iran Update, June 8, 2023

An IRGC Quds Force-affiliated recruitment center in Deir ez Zor City is recruiting Syrians for counter-US operations in Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) territory. This reporting supports CTP’s assessment that Iran may be preparing to direct proxy attacks against US forces in Syria.

CTP previously reported that Iranian and Russian military officials met to discuss expelling the United States from Syria, which may indicate Russia's intent to facilitate Iranian-backed attacks on US forces.[7] CTP is considering several hypotheses about how Russia would interact with an Iranian-backed campaign against US forces in Syria. The hypotheses are listed in order of least to greatest Russian involvement in the campaign. The list does not, however, cover all the potential avenues for Russo-Iranian cooperation against the United States in Syria.

1 Russia withholds support for Iranian-backed attacks on US forces. Russia would either play no role in an Iranian attack campaign or only conduct information operations to support Iran. The latter could include statements and media that frame the US military presence in Syria as permanent and expanding or condemn the presence of US forces in Syria. This is plausible given Russian information operations to date. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, for example, claimed that the United States would create a new Free Syrian Army in Raqqa Province on May 10.[8] Avoiding direct support for Iran while propagating information operations would present the least risk of escalation between the United States and Russia in Syria.

2 Iran and Russia coordinate on when and where Iranian-backed forces attack, but Russia does not directly support them. Iran and Russia agreed to establish a coordination center in Syria in November 2022 to coordinate efforts to attack Americans in eastern and northeastern Syria.[9] Russia could use such coordination mechanisms to ensure its forces are not collocated with Iranian forces or Iranian-backed militias. Keeping Russian forces out of a conflict between the United States and Iran would reduce the risk of a confrontation between the United States and Russia.

3 Iran and Russia share intelligence to support Iranian-backed attacks on US forces. Iran and Russia previously shared intelligence during the fight against ISIS in 2015, which demonstrates there is a precedent for intelligence sharing.[10] Jusoor Studies—a Syria-focused think tank based in Turkey—recirculated reports that Russia assisted Iran in targeting US forces by sharing intelligence during the most recent March 2023 escalation cycle.[11] CTP is unable to verify the claims Jusoor cites. Russian intelligence sharing with Iran would present a low risk of Russia getting involved in an escalation cycle while potentially making Iranian attacks more deadly for US forces.

Iran Update, June 9, 2023

Iran is establishing military storage facilities in eastern Syria, likely to facilitate Iranian weapons transfers and military entrenchment along a critical transportation route into the country. These construction projects are part of a larger Iranian effort to build military infrastructure throughout Deir ez Zor Province.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) published its quarterly safeguards, verification and monitoring reports on the Iranian nuclear program on June 8, detailing significant Iranian nuclear advancements. The IAEA reports furthermore demonstrate that Iran has not resolved any of the agency's inquiries into undeclared nuclear activities—contrary to recent Western media reports.

Iranian news outlets published the finalized version of the Judiciary's Chastity and Hijab Bill on June 8. This bill demonstrates the regime's uncompromising stance on women's rights issues and continued refusal to grant sociocultural concessions in the aftermath of the Mahsa Amini movement.

The Biden administration revealed on June 9 that Iran is helping Russia build a drone manufacturing factory in Yelabuga, Tatarstan, Russia, which underscores the growing military cooperation between Tehran and Moscow despite Western sanctions.[15] National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby stated on June 9 that the drone factory—which the Wall Street Journal reported in February 2023 could produce at least 6,000 Iranian Shahed-136 drones—could be operational by early 2024.[16] Kirby previously announced on May 15 that Russia is seeking to purchase new drones from Iran after expending most of its Iranian drone supply.[17] A factory producing Iranian drones in Russia would support Russia's war effort against Ukraine. Russia could provide Iran with advanced military equipment that would help modernize Iran's armed forces, such as Su-35 fighter jets, attack helicopters, radars, and YAK-130 combat trainer aircraft, in return for helping construct the factory
