EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners
DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.
From FaceBook:
Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. He then went back to the mine and got guys to push the car to the guard shack so they could plug in to charge. ... See more
Sounds like you carped the daylights out of that diem.
Good nap to you!!
I’m back. DP and I need to make a list of songs for the homeless mission. The kids all made it back from science team at the county agricultural center.
FS and James used to go serve at the homeless mission but I guess these days, there are enough volunteers to go around.
Are you performing there for a specific function?
Has Sally found someone who can fix your door latch?
(OTCH! I just yawned and bit the inside of mouth!)
Sally recommended a nearby mechanic, and I called him, and he said he can do it next week. He’ll have to take the door apart, see what parts are needed, order the parts, then install them. So it won’t be quick.
The church has homeless people in on Friday nights during the winter to eat dinner and spend the need. It’s a city-wide program through the Urban Ministry Center. We try to always have musical entertainment, make it feel like a party for them.

That's good that they have something to look forward to, and a little bit of fun tossed in. It's not easy being homeless and it does horrible things to your self-esteem.
I just watched a thing called "Dazzle" about the first attempts at camouflage, down through the two world wars and including today's warfare. Well, it seems the Harry Potter Cloak of Invisibility is not that far away!
I have to go to bed. I'm a little on the achy side tonight. I hope you have a pleasant evening, and I'll see you in the morning.
Harry’s cloak is a Remarkable bit of magic, but real invisibility is not too far off.
On the other hand, the first rule of invisibility is to keep your distance, so maybe being too far off is a good thing.
Mechanical or electronic invisibility is achievable, but biological invisibility will be a challenge. At least the clues are all there. (See squid and octopus, also firefly.)
I hope you have a good night.
Kitteh is electrix.
That’s just it, Bob. According to the gentleman in the clip on camouflage, invisibility clothing isn’t that far away. He’s the guy who designed the digital camo that the military uses, and it’s not just OUR military — it’s military all over the world. When asked point-blank about invisible clothing, his eyes shifted just a bit when he answered.
What thief wouldn’t want that in his arsenal?
LOL!!
That would be a Cloak of ZAP!
Good morning. I hope you had a good night with no cats.
Did the singing for the homeless bring in a good crowd? I thought about it as I was drifting off to sleep.
Now, though, I need to get dressed. It’s 21° outside and just barely 74° in here. I’m freezing!
The audience of homeless people and the volunteers working on the meal was positive. We all had a nice time.
It’s not freezing outside here, but it’s 68 in the dining room. Jake seems to have spent the night on my chair in the living room, but he went tearing around the house yelling after I got up this morning.
Good Saturday Morning!
Looks like our last very chilly start for some time ahead... at least it stayed well above freezing last night...
Almost ran out of road this morning...

I’m glad your music was enjoyed. Singing and music in general is good for the soul. I always feel better with music playing.
The Other Folks are heading for St George today. At least FS was nice enough to let me know that yesterday. It sounded like an afterthought, but I guess I shouldn’t complain.
Good morning. It’s cloudy here but might be sunny later. I’m thinking of taking the decorations off the Christmas tree this morning. We brought the boxes downstairs a few days ago, but then things went mangelwurzel and no further action occurred.
I hope they have a successful trip to St. George. I always assume no news is good news, because the alternative is always worrying about no news.
Happy Caturday, Wordle Players!
Here’s today’s effort. Hard row to hoe, this time.

I wish I could say that! I'm tired of the cold. I thought, at least, someone told me, that I'm living in the South. I haven't been warm since I've been here...
Good job on the Wordle. It was a toughie, today, though.
I’ve left two Nativities out, as I do almost every year (sometimes it’s more than two) but they’ll be packed when it’s time. I’m thinking of ordering a box or two with each grocery order from Walmart so it doesn’t sting as much as it does when it comes out all at once.
I’m going to pack the “knick-knacks and scarcities” as my mother called them, because they’re in a place where I can’t see them to enjoy them. So away they go. And then I’ll start sorting through the books once again. I’ve gotten rid of some, but more need to leave.
My Walmart sells a small box, which was big enough to mail some pretty large things, for $1.
