EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners
DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.

Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. I’m here. Tom and I went to the hardware store to get a new ceiling light for Kathleen’s room. We had some lights in the garage, but they didn’t work. The new one does. Why does everything have to be so difficult!
Now I’m puttering around not working on typing up everything from last night’s Stewardship meeting.

There is another Chirstmas(?) card in the mail from you today, so I though I’d wait for it to come before I answered the other two that are waiting patiently.
I took the trash out and saw a perfectly good TV box in the dumpster, so I rescued it for some of the wall stuff that will need to be packed. I will have to order book boxes soon, but I want to see if I can weed out some more books before I get a final count. Book boxes are good for kitchen things, too, especially canisters and dishes.
So. The letter to Charlie is in the mail, and I need to try and get an email written to a niece and nephew in Central Utah, but I really don’t feel up to any of it. I just want to be a slug.
The theological answer is long. The short answer is because it can and because it doesn't like us.

Packing the Nativities is very slow going. I’ve been saving my grocery bags, but I don’t have enough. I guess I’ll have to forage among the plastic and paper mailers.
I’ll flatten out the TV box and stick it under my bed, and I may only need to buy one “flat” container/box for the larger paintings.
Anyway, it’s that time of year for me to think seriously about the actual move. And what doesn’t have to be used right away can be packed, tossed or donated.
Since I have so many plastic crates here, I’ve decided to just buy black/green garbage bags to line the crates with and seal them with whatever they contain, now, either with tape or bunji cords. It may cut down on the boxes I actually have to buy.
Just thinking out loud. Not sure about the clothes, but the larger Space Bags are still intact. Except for the ones the Other Folks used on their trip to Europe and haven’t returned to me. And I probably won’t ask them.
We might take our tree down this weekend. Depends on what else is going on.
I think, if I were in a larger place, and not thinking of leaving any time soon, that I would have left my tree up for Twelfthnight. I took it down because there is just no room. I hate having my kitchen and living room in the same space.
FS is on his way back from Maryland with the new VW in hand. He said he would send me pics when they get back, so all I can do (again) is pray for his safety. I asked him to let me know when he gets in, regardless. I’m just glad he has someone else with him!
I’ve been watching a fanciful thing called “Dickensian” and at the moment, it’s lagging. It’s about Marley dying, and Scrooge getting all the business, but the thing has been expanded to Marley being murdered and a new branch of the London Police Constabulary called “The Detective” coming into play for the first time.
Tom Cratchit was hauled in on Christmas Day but was allowed to go home to give his daughter away to her new husband. The concept is pretty cool, but there are too many people who seem to be just fluff. Excellent cast of character actors, though. I just got bored with it. ADHD at play today, which is common during a relapse.
Anyway, Tom Cratchit didn’t do it, so the detective has to look elsewhere. (Accent on “where.”) I’ll watch the rest of it (ten 45-minute episodes) when I feel up to it. Two at a sitting is about the most I can handle.
It sounds mildly interesting. Kathleen and I just went to see a church acquaintance’s decorations. It was spectacular, over a dozen decorated trees plus other stuff. Big house, too.
If I weren’t in the middle of a relapse, I would probably devote more time to watching it, as I want to find out who killed Marley. We have more than a couple of suspects, and the cast is stupendous!
Also, the period costumes and sets are truly wonderful! But my interwebs went off within just a few scant minutes of my changing to something else, and it was off for almost three hours.
Mona came over in the meantime and asked if I wanted to go to Kroger. She stayed about an hour, and the answer was still no.
But it was enough to keep me awake and here I am.
We’ve had choir practice, and I’ll go change in a few minutes. Then we’ll probably watch Death in Paradise.
