EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners

DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.

From FaceBook:

Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. He then went back to the mine and got guys to push the car to the guard shack so they could plug in to charge. ... See more

That sounds like a lot of precipitous days.

We’re supposed to have rain this afternoon, but I already knew that. The barometer is dropping and my back is killing me.

Of course, I had to stand up to sort pills, and anything over 10 minutes is guaranteed to give me fits. If I walk it’s not too bad, but just standing is moiduh!

Golly. I haven’t even been out to check the mail since Monday....

We’re supposed to have rain this afternoon

Did someone make a promise?

Today is Thursday. Tom had a job interview earlier. He put on tidy clothes and went somewhere. I hear it’s a “geo-engineering” firm.

Even if it’s not a promise, it usually rains here.

Well, prayers up for Tom the Son.

Is it known if this is a “final interview?” Or the almost final? It would be wonderful if he became a contributor to the Firm.

Well, it looks like (sounds like) our daughter’s car is still needing to be dug out, which means we have no estimate, which means we don’t know if it’s going to be totaled or not. And that means if it is totaled I can’t help her buy her replacement.

It’s too bad that towing company doesn’t have more competition.

Oh, ArGee, that’s disappointing. I’m so sorry you all have to endure this prolonged accident. It just seems to keep on giving, doesn’t it?

And you’re right about the towing company needing competition. Does NYS have any laws about gouging during a natural disaster or Act of God clause?

(Sorry about my curiosity. I try to be polite but it seems the curiosity gets in the way. You don’t have to answer any question from me ever that invades your privacy.)

I don’t know. His dad says they might want to get someone hired by the end of the year, so maybe he’ll get an offer tomorrow!

Tom is going with some friends to the axe-throwing bar this evening. He’s great at axe-throwing. Maybe they’ll offer him a job.

I’ve added Tom to the prayer list so hopefully, he will say all the right things at the right time.

That was always my downfall in interviews. Tom will be much better at it because he doesn’t have me as an example!

Have a good night!

What a pretty floof!

Good morning. I hope you rested well last night.

I was up in the night again. It’s becoming old.

Nothing on the docket today but the shower and the letter to Charlie. Maybe I’ll feel well enough to reorganize the closet again and find some older things to donate. Or things I haven’t used in six months. Or both.

Good morning. I was dreaming about sorting laundry. There were items in the basket with tags still on, and none of the male family members would claim them.

Frank is going to help with chicken processing today at his friend’s house. He’s having breakfast now, and we’ll leave in half an hour or so.

Did I happen to mention that our furnace died yesterday?

Sorting your laundry indicates that will “receive unexpected benefits, either social or financial, through an acquaintance on whom you made a strong impression.”

I can’t do the animal processing thing. I was pregnant when I was “asked” to learn how to dress a pheasant, and I can’t deal with innards ever since. I don’t even want them in the same package. I hope Frank likes it! Does he get paid? Or is this just in the nature of a service project? Which is a better lesson than being paid.

The shower was mostly wonderful and I came out to open the curtains to see what kind of day we’re having. Fog, rain, ugh. Most of the morning. The furnace hasn’t kicked on since Wednesday morning, so the place is damp and smells like old tobacco again.

Ratboy fussed with it and fussed with it and raised it from the dead, but now it’s a crippled zombie.

Still needs professional help, but now it can be put off to regular business hours, saves a BUNCH on after hours emergency charges...
