EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners

DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.

From FaceBook:

Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. He then went back to the mine and got guys to push the car to the guard shack so they could plug in to charge. ... See more

A sore throat woke me up, but I think it’s been nagging at me for the last two days. Which probably means I’m heading into another relapse.

Aw, man. I’m sending up an extra prayer. 🙏

Thanks! I need all the prayers I can get!

I’ve started the log, just in case, because anything over ten symptoms means relapse. Yesterday there were 25. It may be just a glitch but I’ll keep the log for the next week and see how it goes.

What a squeeful little cali!

Good morning. I hope you slept well with no cats.

Walmart was out of milk in quarts, and I thought I had one in the freezer. HAH! They won’t deliver under $35, so I’m stuck with no milk. Maybe I can walk to Kroger tomorrow or Friday. It’s supposed to warm up by then. Right now, it’s still a toasty 25°. *brrr*

I’m so tired of being cold! BUT! I’m grateful for “opposition in all things” because if I didn’t have the cold, I wouldn’t appreciate the warm as much!

Happy Hmpf Day, Wordlers!

I’m up too early, but at least I’m up!

Here’s today’s effort while I wait for the water to heat for my shower.

“If I didn’t have the cold, I wouldn’t appreciate the warm as much!”

That’s what my mother’s late friend Louie, the Battle of the Bulge survivor, said.

Good morning. It’s cold here, too.

Good morning, everyone. Happy Humph Day!

It’s a slow week here. Fortunately we aren’t digging out of the Buffalo snow. I think our daughter’s car was either sent to the shop yesterday or will get there today. Then we can find out what the estimate is, particularly whether it will be totaled. I may spend an extra day with her at her home finding a replacement if she needs a new one.

Got it in 4 today.

Your mother’s late friend was right!

The water could have used another 20 minutes of heating but I was too cold to wait any longer for it. So the shower is done. It wore me out. Some days it goes like that.

Leg warmers are the Uniform of the Day, here. and I’m so glad I never saw the need to donate them!

Last week, I was dehydrated, and this week, I’m retaining water. Unngh.

I need to go make the bed in a few, and that will probably be the extent of my chores for the day. I had to force myself to shower because I was just so tired.

Good morning.

How is your daughter? Is she physically OK? Accidents, even “minor” ones, can be traumatic, and I suspect the conditions were scary to begin with. I hope she’s OK, and that the car can be repaired or replaced ASAP.

I only know about the Buffalo snow (not to be confused with buffalo chips) because someone from that area posted something on Facebook about it. But that area is infamous for it’s lake-effect snow. Mother Nature is making fools of the global warming alarmists, and I love it! She’s not done with them, yet!

Good Morning!

I don’t know, ‘Face, as the years and decades roll by, days seem to become very generically ‘days.’ New Years and New Year’ Eve have lost their significance...

As I look toward the upcoming weekend, I mostly see a 3-day football fest....

Back on a better Wordle track for today:

Nothing objective, but anecdotally it seems to me that almost every car wreck ends up being called “totaled” lately... not sure if it is parts cost and scarcity... and/or labor issues...

In the odd cases that one isn’t totaled, the customers are waiting months upon months to get their vehicles back...

Hoping that it works out well for your daughter!

Yep, I get it!! Once I was forced to retire, I had a hard time adjusting. (Personal computers were just becoming the thing, and were still quite expensive, and I was too ill to socialize by any other method.)

I finally told my FS the other day that the computer was my lifeline to the world. I think he doesn’t really understand what “chronic illness” means in terms of not being able to function. He knows diabetes, but not CFIDS.

We do have football in common, so since I don’t think I could handle three days of the game with a play-by-play in the living room, I’ll try to find something on network TV.

Back from the physical therapist. We’re talking about getting a new stove with an oven that heats up. There’s a sale at Lowe’s.

Oh, go do that!! EOY sales can be pretty awesome!

I’m going to go make the bed then go back to putting a blanket stitch edging along the sides of the frog blanket. As it is, if the thread snags and breaks, the whole thing will unravel. The blanket stitch will only unravel for about 14” at any one time.

So how is your sciatica in this very cold weather?

Physically she’s OK. She’s mostly over her cold (again), too.

Yes, Buffalo gets a lot of this. And amidst the cries of “Why didn’t the government do any better to reduce the deaths?” are cries of “Why do you need government to tell you to stay home in a blizzard?”

Hopefully we’ll get a quote on the car repair today - which will include State Farm’s decision to repair or total it.

Good lock on the stove search. The oven in this place is electric and it doesn’t report the current temp when it’s pre-heating. Both the length of time it takes an electric oven to preheat and the lack of info drive Mrs. ArGee nuts.

Even my kids who didn’t learn to drive in snow country, have lived through the Late Igor and I driving in snow country, and know enough about it to stay home when conditions are hazardous.

The first winter my daughter was in CO, I literally had to talk her through driving to work. She claims she couldn’t have made it without me, and I don’t know if that’s true or not, but she needed me and I did what I could, considering the distance between us.

Weather reporters don’t seem to have any idea of the seriousness of some of the blizzards that will be hitting us. To them, it’s just AI throwing possibilities of brightly colored areas onto their computer screens. The actual experience is beyond their ability to understand.

I hope your daughter is OK emotionally, as well as physically after this. The shock of an accident often lingers. Prayers up for her.

That’s good! I’m glad to hear it! It will probably be that way for the rest of your life, but you know what exercises to do, so you can keep the worst of the pain at bay.
