EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners

DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.

From FaceBook:

Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. He then went back to the mine and got guys to push the car to the guard shack so they could plug in to charge. ... See more

Let the games begin!

You could let them all play Wordle.

I have two games planned. They’ll also have snacks and exchange gifts. I need to wrap the one Kathleen is taking.

All the work I went to sorting the “gifts” (mathoms) for the Family Get-Together that was supposed to take place last Saturday, and here we are. James and Abbie couldn’t make it at all, so we postponed it to Christmas Day. And then Sam decided that since that’s the day he always has Christmas with his dad, we’re doing Christmas Eve with him, and Christmas Day will just be me, FS and PW.

Can we just not go through this next year, please? Thanks. I’ll be out of town, I think.

I’ll do my best to help you be out of town!

Our group is having difficulties coming up with idea for things to get people that you don’t know very well and anyway, they already have everything. Maybe next year, I’ll say, “Under $10, and it has to have a floral pattern.” That might inspire some creativity.

The guest kids have gone home. We’ll see them tomorrow. Jake is throwing up.

There’s a good idea! Or three things to make with a floral shower curtain. Kids today don’t seem to have the stimulation that we had — “If you can’t find something to do, then I’ll help you, OK?” That was always an incentive!

Making things with shower curtains would be funny.

Well, it would certainly bring out the creativity in a lot of kids, for sure!

FS was supposed to come by today to get my card for the prescription, but I guess he’s too busy. If the day isn’t too ugly, I’ll just walk down tomorrow morning. I’m beginning to feel like I’m a bother, so I’ll just find alternatives to everything. I know how to do that.

Good morning. Happy Twosday!

For some reason my weather app decided to tell me I’m in New York this morning. I finally got it to share local information and it’s a little colder. I may have to look for another app, soon, as it has also started showing me ads BEFORE showing me the weather.

My 3s and 5s are even again.

No, he’s working. He has a few jobs to get done before their trip to Utah in a few weeks, and as soon as they get back, he has a job in Maryland to do. That will take him a couple of weeks, so I’ll be on Shank’s Ponies for a bit.

It’s just so darned cold out now. It doesn’t even warm up in the daytime.

Another marmalade!

Good morning.

I hope you had a good night.

I dreamed of thunder again, and this time it was terribly loud. I hate that. It’s a good omen though, so I’ll take it!

I’ve decided I’ll have to go ahead and walk to Kroger if I intend to get the prescription.

The Christmas cards are almost ready to go out, so I’ll put them in the mail before I go. It will still be close to freezing. Maybe I can wake Mona up and have her take me. She sleeps a lot because of the meds she is on.

Good morning. Not bad. I went straight to be after Cub Scouts, but Jake came along several times to show me he cares about my blankets.

The extra children are here, and everyone is hanging around computers. We’re going to go to the library and shopping in a little while.

Hoping that everyone that has to make preparations for the upcoming cold shot is well underway...

I also evened up the 3s and 5s (at 84 each) today...

Happy Tuesday, Wordlers!

Sorry for the late start, but I got sidetracked, this being a Tuesday and the day after Washday.

Here’s my effort for today, but none of the solving groups is anywhere near to any other one. The closest is ten away.

Years ago, no one would know you had extra children unless you told them, but time has changed the dynamics, and people may be doing headcounts, just to be sure they aren’t missing any children of their own.

Jake should have more blankets. So should Shannon.
