EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners
DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.

Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. Sorry, Ganag. The Interwebs went down, so I took the opportunity to whomp up a batch of Toll House cookies for the carolers who are due this evening.
These aren’t as time-consuming as the pineapple cookies were, but they’re still going to do a job on my back before I’m done. Five dozen down, two to go. I think. Then I’ll bag them up while they’re still warm and put a little card with them to thank the teens for singing.
That and a small bottle of apple juice should help with the job. I don’t know how many people they will go see, but this ward is really spread out, so maybe they’re only going to seniors and widows.
I asked Mona to come over if she wanted to, but she didn’t really give an answer. “She’s a strange duck,” as my mother would have said!
This state is a time traveler’s nightmare.
I know when the sun goes up and when it goes down, but I don’t know what time it is in between because of the constant dense overcast.
Your cats would hate it here. They would always be blaming you for the rain that got their fur wet!

The cookies are done, wrapped up with a napkin and a glittery ribbon and a little green tag that says “Thanks for making my Christmas Merry!” Each little bundle will come with a bottle of apple juice, and that’s my good deed for the day. I love it when the carolers come!! I love it even better when I’ve been given time to do something for them to thank them. I don’t have cocoa or mugs to serve it in, so maybe next year, I can invest in some disposable coffee cups with lids for the cocoa.
Here’s my happy time. FS tried to take the wind out of my sails when I asked why he was going to LA when they go to Utah for Carol’s birthday. He got cranky saying he told me all about it (not the LA part) and I pulled a British come-back from my ever-growing stock, and asked, “Who’s a cranky boy, then?”
NOT going to let the Other Folks rain on my parade!

Yeah, well, I have to figure out a way to fight back without making people really ticked off. I mean, about all they can do to that kind of response is cluck their tongues and wonder what’s gotten into me.
I’m going to try and keep them guessing!

Nah. That would be too easy. He’s got a rotator cuff problem and its making him cranky, because he’s off work now until such time as he gets back from Maryland, which will be after their trip to Utah, LA and wherever.
But he can do what he wants. I’m done losing sleep over what the Other Folks do because it’s just not worth it.
The stuff from iHerb just came. It’s a good thing, too, because I have to sort pills in the morning.
Sounds like a lot of travel at a bad time of year. Sorry about his rotator cuff. I was getting pretty chippy myself before I went to the physical therapist for the sciatica!
Well the trip to Maryland is to do a job for a couple who used to live here, and they don’t trust anyone to do the job but my FS. Part of his payment is an almost completely restored VW convertible, much like the one he’s been working on for the last two years. The one he’s being paid is farther along in the rebuild, so all expenses paid plus the car, and I don’t know how he could turn it down.
Mona was going to come over and listen to the carolers, but she had to go to Walmart, and as far as I know, she isn’t back, yet. I have the door open a crack so I can hear when/if the youth turn up, but I really want to just put my jammies on and go to bed and wait for the pain to disappear.
Since James and Abbie will be in Utah for Christmas, we’re going to get together on Christmas day for dinner after church. Like I need more exposure!

This is true! It’s been plastered all over Facebook the last two days, and I’m sure it will be there for another week.
The carolers finally showed up, and I gave them the cookies and juice, and they cleaned the tray up! The electric lighted violin was here, as well, providing background music.
Mona was brought to the point of tears, as was I, though I hid mine. It was worth the wait!
So now, I’m off to bed. Finally.

I’m surprised to be the first one here, since I already scraped the frost off the car that’s parked outside. Mrs. ArGee has to take her father for a renal ultrasound because he’s having too many accidents. She is praying he won’t have one at the office because he has to drink water for a full bladder for the ultrasound.
But don’t suggest Depends or anything. He’s not old.
