EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners

DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.

From FaceBook:

Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. He then went back to the mine and got guys to push the car to the guard shack so they could plug in to charge. ... See more

Good morning. I was cold last night. I got up a couple of times to get another blanket. Also had Jake, which is emotionally reassuring but a bit awkward, depending on where he chooses to purr and claw.

DP was up late on a work thing, but I have my clothes out to go to the physical therapist. I’ll have to get the youth up before I go, so they can be ready to leave for the farm when I get back.

Good morning. Happy Humph Day!

Our temps are back up into the 30s. Of course, there’s some melting snow on the ground. I figure we got maybe 2 inches before it started raining. Maybe I won’t have to wear as many layers today as I did yesterday to stay warm.

Back to the world of 4 today.

The shower has been had, and at the moment, I’m not too cold. The bathroom was nice and toasty, and the water was warm, but not hot, so less than satisfying. Still, I smell better. ;o]

I’m going to see how much progress I can make on the letter I started yesterday. I love the pony car stamps, (again!) So cool!

Today is Charlie’s birthday, so I have to remember to call him. PST. Unngh.

Good job!!

FD sent me a text from her weather app and it said it was 21° in CO. We’re only 5° warmer!

I feel like Col. Blake in M*A*S*H, when it was winter in Korea, and he was dictating a letter via Radar. He said something to the effect of “I’m wearing so many layers my thighs don’t know each other any more,” to which Radar responded as if he were taking the diction, “...don’t know each other...” Yeah. That would be me.

No snow here, yet, but north of us got some. I have no idea how long it stayed on the ground, but it seems earlier this year than last year.

I texted Vlad and phoned the house phone from the physical therapist to try to get the youth ready to go on time without disturbing the late sleeper adult, but no. James and His Hair are still in bed.

I am angry about this situation, although at least I was prepared with clothes and didn’t have to go to the physical therapist in what I slept in. Maybe it’s the other person who needs his own house where he could sleep in while I could do laundry, run the vacuum, and get the kids up.

It sounds like a serious work cock-up. He’s in the sunroom angrily playing the ukulele and occasionally talking in Grandmama’s Talking To Idiots Voice.

Oh, Crikey!

James and His Hair need to be responsible now that he has a J-O-B.

And the Other Person needs his own room, preferably in a He-Shed in the back yard. That way, he could do whatever he wants, including attack the innocent ukulele and use his Grandmama’s Talking To Idiots voice all he wants.

Sounds to me like he’s setting an extremely bad example for the younger Chicklets who are still at home. And an older one as well.

I think you should bring Kathleen and move to Utah with me. At least for a few weeks, anyway. Or a month. Or two. You might find a nice air b&b to stay in for a reasonable price, on an extended stay.

(Boy. The things we could do if our selfs would let us!!)

Yeah, well, what can I say. Birds have been known to drown, so maybe if she just waits for them to finish...

Oh, I see that. Finished with running, whew. Now I need to make a phone call about music, and then I’ll have time to read to Kathleen before we both collapse. The lady can’t pay very much, but the outdoor work is good exercise, and Frank is earning service hours for his Sunday School. We’ll go back on Friday.

I was ready for bed, since I got up so early this morning, but then I remembered that UPS is bringing my iHerb order “by 7:00PM” so I just got up again. I’ll listen to an uplifting talk and then try again after the UPS person comes.

Unngh.

Any spending money a kid gets from someone besides mom and dad is “real money,” dontchaknow? Frank will be grateful for the experience and the money later on.

Good morning. Happy Friday Eve!

My beeber was saying we would get more snow this morning, but nothing so far. just more cold. There’s still some snow left on the grass from the other day.

Oh, well. Off to the races.

Another 4 spot.

What a squeeful face!

Good morning. I hope you slept well. Better than the night before, anyway.

Today is pill sorting day.

I called Charlie yesterday, and he was very happy that I did. I guess he has no one else. Three more residents died, one of them a drug dealer with two Corvettes; another moved into the apartment I moved out of when the remodeling was done, and I don’t recall the third one. I may or may not since it was just an acquaintance.

Also, housing had a birthday party for the little Filipina who turned 100 this year. She finally agreed to a helper, but she won’t let him clean house, as she says it gives her a chance to exercise. She’s mostly deaf and blind, now so he just takes her on her errands.

Charlie is still walking every day, and that’s good. I think he’s 87, now. Anyway, it was a good visit and I think it really cheered him up.
