EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners
DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.
From FaceBook:
Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. He then went back to the mine and got guys to push the car to the guard shack so they could plug in to charge. ... See more

I will sleep better not having to worry about water coming in the tent! And Jake will be happy.
Our tent sites were pretty spread out at this place, so one didn’t have a snorer only a yard away. One of the guys had his 3-year-old son with him last night, and I didn’t hear a peep, although it was raining on and off, so we might not have. The only time I saw the little bro upset was when his dad told him he couldn’t play Capture the Flag with all the 9- to 10-year olds.
One of the leaders broke his glasses and maybe his toe playing, but he said it was worth it.
I used to hate when I broke my glasses playing sports, because in those days, I walked around blind for two weeks before a new pair could be mailed from SLC. I was so myopic!
Not much to be done for a broken toe, though, except to tape it to the next one to it. I hope he’s OK, in spite of!
FS just sent me a text saying the movie for Matinee Day will be arriving here tomorrow, meaning he’ll bring it with him in the morning. He’s still not telling me what it is, but said he hopes I haven’t seen it. I dunno...I’ve seen an awful lot of movies! But I’ve slept since I watched any of them, so it will be “new,” anyway!
*groan*
It was way hard to get out of bed this morning.
I’m off to wash clothes!
Good morning, Peeps!
It’s raining. Nothing new there, I think.
I surprised myself this morning with this:

Good morning. It’s cloudy here, but not raining right now.
Good morning. Happy Monday.
We had a bit of a warm weekend. Mrs. ArGee and I went on a hike and almost didn’t get off the trail. We found our way back, though. The 2.9 mile hike became a 4 miler.
No seizures over the weekend, but a bit of a scare on Saturday.
Now I’m all messed up on the time change. At least there are 2 days off this week to help me get through it. NYC has a holiday on election day - I think it’s so the unions can bus city workers out to liberal GOTV sites. We also get Veteran’s Day off.
And, the week starts with a 3.

Good Monday Morning!
Was supposed to have rained overnight in to the morning, but thus far just very cloudy...
Not a fan of this switch of the clocks...
Glad that everyone is back safe and sound, and no worse for the wear...
Four train to start the week...

Well, everyone but the Phillies fans. ;)
😂
Kitteh looks reddy for anyfing!
Good morning. Did you have a good night?
Sorry about the delay. I took a nap, and as soon as I got up I began to hang the clothes, since it’s so damp outside.
So the day’s work is done for me, and its a good thing, too.
FS should be by soon, I hope.
PW is leaving for St George tomorrow, for her dad’s birthday on Thursday. FS will be staying here.
From what I heard yesterday, this is the very last time the clocks will be changed. If so, it’s a dream realized. It was a stupid idea, anyway. “Only the white man would cut some off the blanket and sew it on the other end, thinking he has a longer blanket.” I dunno who said it, but it works for me.
Good job on the Four Ride!
Great job on the Triple!
Funny how some trails seem to get much longer as we hike them.
Good morning. I went to the gas station and then to the physical therapist. I’m still pretty tired, but not as bad as yesterday, when I got to church and discovered I’d forgotten how to speak Spanish. Fortunately, I could still sing, because that’s automatic.
Frank and Kathleen have vanished upstairs, and Vlad is camped in the bathroom. A typical morning of Alive, Awake, Alert, and Enthusiastic for them.
I hope PW has a good trip and FS has a pleasant few days.
I read a number of articles on this lately and can’t figure out what is going on...
I was wondering about you going to church, yesterday. Somehow, I had the feeling that you would be tired but that you would go anyway. I’m sorry your language failed you!
Ah. Yes. Camp Biffy. Haven for those who don’t want to do dishes or any other form of manual labor.
I’m not sure PW ever has a good trip anywhere because in a lot of situations, she’s not the center of the attention. And I’m sure FS will sleep well in the duration!
As it was told to me yesterday, the law has finally been passed that will do away with DST once and for all. I can only hope it’s true!
On first reading my thought was, "I thought her place was small." Then I figured out what you meant.
When whichever of our Federal bodies passed the bill last year a whole bunch of people started complaining about school children waiting for busses in the dark.
So I’m thinking, we want to continue this $billion waste every year so that for a couple of weeks in November and in March those kids can wait in sunlight? Because the days get short enough (up here) that the mornings are still mostly dark anyway.
Hopefully it will pass.
Indeed, it would be great...
