EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners
DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.

Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. I wish I were going to be at the game. The ticket prices at MMP are crazy. Almost $700 just for standing room tickets. We will settle for being in close proximity. It will just be good to see my old gang. 😁

Damned dog came in to steal my bed. At least he waited until I’d had 7 hours sleep...
So I made the bed and he hopped on, leaving me enough room to lay down. So I did.
Then he moved around a little then jumped up. I could see scores of blue sparks under him!
Synthetic blanket, dog fur.
I was able to persuade him to get back on. He’s snoring peacefully. Alone.
Time to fire up the humidifier...
Maybe he’s the one who ordered PST just so he could have more bed?
Yep. Sparks are a sure indicator of high desert (or low, as the case may be) usually associated with extremely windy days.

After a brief power outage (about 70 minutes) last night, everything is working fine, but it seems all the clocks are telling me the time changed while I was sleeping.
It doesn’t seem to have affected my gaming ability, as it’s either good or fair-to-middle’n.

About that...I reset all the clocks I has access to. My old decrepit bedside clock fought back bitterly. The row of clearly labeled buttons on the top are confused. The clock button sometime acts as the dim/bright button, sometimes as the turn on the alarm button. The turn off the alarm button doesn’t turn off the alarms but sufficient finger dancing on other buttons eventually does after you cycle through radio buzzer, aux and step through several radio stations. Then occasionally (somewhere between one out of five and one out of ten tries) would allow you to increment the time by several minutes before deciding you really want to dim or brighten the display or turn on and set the alarm. Finally beat it into submission after over half and hour of fussing, This morning it was back to daylight savings time.
Two clocks, one set by WWVB automatically reset. The other our TV clock a Walmart purchased Emmerson clock radio with “automatic radio signal clock setting” (which was always 6 minutes fast) reset to standard time. Still six minutes fast...
True, but we did move out of Sparks...
Yeah, well where the old county hospital used to be was technically in Sparks. I was born there and thought for years my birth certificate said, “Reno.” To my surprise, in 2002, someone looked at it and said, “This says, ‘Rural.’” What??
So, if anyone asks, I was born in Rural NV which takes up a goodly portion of the state. Any guesses as to the exact location are welcomed, but no prize will be forthcoming.
Now, not to spoil a good conversation, but I’m going to go shower and try to warm up. I’ll be back in about 40 minutes. My days of 20 minutes to get ready for anything have long gone!
My birth certificate shows I was born in the city next to the one where the hospital is actually located.

Today is a testament to the randomness of this game... I picked a first row word out of the blue, never used it before... got the middle letter fixed in place... second word was totally random as well, anything that had that middle letter in it... and it made the third row a no brainer...
