EV runs out of juice, pushed by coal miners

DC tourist ran out of battery in the middle of a remote West Virginia road on Friday, near a coal mine on Mettiki Coal access road U.S. 48, a few miles outside of Davis, according to WTRF.

From FaceBook:

Randy Smith on Friday Some days are just better than others. Today at our mine off Corridor H an electric car from DC ran out of battery at the road entrance to the mine. Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road. He went to investigate and found out they had indeed ran out of juice coming from DC to Davis for a get away weekend. He then went back to the mine and got guys to push the car to the guard shack so they could plug in to charge. ... See more

Did you know that the darker fur around the muzzle ears and feet/tail is caused by lower temperatures in those areas? A bit of trivia I picked up when I was going to Vet Tech school.

Interesting! Birds’ feathers often have different features depending on whether they have more or less melanin.

I learn something new every day. Thanks!

Yesterday, it was a lot of somethings! Today, well, today is early, so the somethings are infinitely possible!

Today is very glum, wet and dreary, so the moon is at full volume. If that’s the term. It does wonders for this tiny, dark place.

It does cast a lot of light. I had it on this morning, even though it was nearly light outside when I got up. We’re supposed to have a sunny day. James will be working at the Town Hall, which he says is boring. They rent rooms for private events, and the employees just have to hang around, hold doors, carry out the trash, say, “The bathroom is on the left,” and so on.

I’m at that stage where I don’t feel too bad, but I know if I go to church, I’ll have a minor relapse by the end of the week. So I’ll be keeping my tired self home today.

Good…take care of you. I’m glad you had fun at the craft fair yesterday and it sounds like you made some fun pie plates and an ornament, but I’m sorry you started feeling bad. I hope you get feeling much, much better very soon.

Thanks. I’ve had this disease long enough to know that when I feel like this, the worst thing I can do is push myself. So I’ll take your advice (and mine!) and stay home!

I’ll listen to uplifting talks, while I’m under the radar and then tune into church services when the time comes.

(I can send you some pics if you’d like... )

It helps to have it at full bore at times like this. Hopefully, the depression will lift soon.

What a cute little fuzzy meezer!

I always thought Siamese were high-strung because I frequently babysat for a family who had one. That kitty (Kitza) hissed a lot and swiped at me if I got too close.

But then I inherited one and found out how sweet most of them can be. He’s such a smart, affectionate and well-mannered kitteh and he’s a very dear friend and family member. I love my lil’ meezer.

Good morning and a blessed Lord’s Day to all.

My Houston Astros advanced to the ALCS last night by winning a 1-0 defensive duel in 18 freakin’ innings. I kind of had it on in the background.

The sky has that look to it that it might…just might…do that thing we need it to do so badly.

I’m on the four-train today.

Yes, at the moment the weather underground in our area predicts 37 degree on early Wednesday morning... downright chilly!

Did you age a few years as the lines disappeared?

Not that time... when I was away earlier in the week, I played the game on my phone... I normally play on my computer, so when I returned, my streak started over at 1, since I missed three games on my computer...

So, I didn't have to worry about breaking a long streak yesterday morning...

Yep…I might even have to turn on my heater. What a novel concept.

I washed a load of pullover sweaters, long-sleeved shirts and a jacket yesterday morning, so I’m all set. I had washed them all last spring before putting them away, but this summer has been *so* long, I figured everything could use a refreshing.

Well, it looks like this big dip in temperature is only for a few days... gets back up to normal later in the week...

Which is a good thing, because I have a lot more wood to split to get ready, and no time to do it for several weeks...

Yep…looks like highs in the upper 80s by next weekend.

In these parts, there’s always a definite time each year that the heater gets turned off for months and the winter clothes get put away.

But there’s never a time summer clothes get put away or the A/C goes off for months. Just doesn’t happen here. 🙃
