There once were some carvings in stone,
Whose presence were always unknown,
And then, as they say, in the light of the day,
Their presence were suddenly shown.

(from memory, from Nat Geog map of Ireland)
Limerick’s an historic city,
eleven hundred years old what a pity
that this Georgian delight
of industrial might
is best known for verses half-witty.

The limerick packs laughs anatomical
Into space that is quite economical.
But the good ones I’ve seen
So seldom are clean
And the clean ones so seldom are comical.

There was a young lady from Natchez
Whose clothes were covered in patches.
When asked why it was
She said “Twas because
When I itches, I scratches.”

There once were some old carvings in Limerick
On their descendants they knew they could stick
Just a few choice lines
As good as fine wines
But aren’t they laying it on just a little too thick?

There was a young thief from Des Moines
Who happened to get kicked in the groin.
When asked what caused it
He said “the Hoss did it.”
And nevermore could purloin.

I was thinking it is a prehistoric limerick... 🤓

There was young lady from Yonkers
Who was driving the young men bonkers.
When asked why it was thus,
She replied with a fuss,
“ Oh! They only want to look at my honkers.”
