Ten Ways to Change a Liberal's Mind
American Thinker ^ | 2 Sep, 2022 | Jack Gleason

How can you reach people with closed minds? Try these.

Have you ever talked with a liberal and made a comment that shuts him down completely? "Trump sure is getting a raw deal with that FBI raid, isn't he?" His eyes go glassy, and he starts to look for the exit. Or he repeats something automatically, like "Trump deserves anything he gets."

This "orange man bad" mantra is often called "Trump Derangement Syndrome." It effectively shuts down all communication between disagreeing sides and prevents any kind of meaningful dialogue, even between good friends or family members. Even intelligent people who are suffering greatly from Biden/liberal policies, through loss of jobs, high gas and oil prices, rapid inflation, high taxes, or curbs on religious freedoms, won't be able to change their minds and consider voting for a conservative or moderate candidate once he is somehow linked to Donald Trump.

So how can you reach people with closed minds?

1. Be from within their tribe. Start by reinforcing what the two of you have in common — you may have lived in the same city, had similar jobs or similar backgrounds.

2. Get permission to discuss — "Would you like to tell me about your views on global warming?" This makes the idea of a discussion non-threatening.

3. Resolve never to argue or raise your voice. Don't threaten or invoke fear. If things start to become even a little heated, then withdraw — "we can always discuss this later" or "now may not be the time to discuss this." Getting into a heated argument is going to activate the liberal's lizard brain and end logical reasoning.

4. Start small. Don't try to convince the liberal that Donald Trump is the next George Washington. Go for a smaller issue

I stopped a liberal cold one day.

The topic was climate and the world’s surplus population.

So I asked him, when it’s time to cull the masses, who decides who dies? He’s a gentle liberal, and the horror of the idea struck him.

You can’t reason people out of a position they didn’t reason themselves into. It’s pretty simple. There are people that I simply won’t waste time on because they are brain-dead drones. They haven’t had an original thought in probably decades

You can’t reason with a liberal who’s closed minded and has his/her mind made up.

Being nice and reasonable means, to them, that they’re actually winning the argument and it’s only a matter of time before you start seeing things their way.

If a liberal has to be convinced of the fallacy of their views and arguments, then, they don’t have the mental capacity to change, because, the opposition arguments and views are all around them, and if they haven’t learned from actual experience, then, they’re a lost cause.

Is that the new and improved model?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Does it come with a STAINLESS STEEL blade to fight off infections' wink, wink.

Omg. Nonnnnnnne of that works. You underestimate the depth of the brainwashing.

What worked for some around here (Los Angeles): the dangerous feral “homeless.” And how the wonderful liberal leaders don’t do anything to help my Dem friends who work hard and pay taxes, and their adult kids live with them because they can’t afford apartments, and the leaders want to give these mentally ill addicts expensive digs. Even if they aren’t from CA.

That has switched a few!

Indeed.... interestingly it appears the FedGov is shipping as much of that stuff off our continent as possible.

I firmly believe that we cannot get through to most “liberals” because they cannot be truthful with us in their position.

For example, abortion. They say they have no problem because it’s just a lump of cells like a tumor. We try mightily to demonstrate how this is false. Trouble is, they KNOW it’s false. They’re just taking this position because they can’t say what their true position is. They pretend not to understand our position. They anger and get frustrated because they KNOW we’re right. It forces them to internally accept their true position... which makes them monsters with a non-stop ticket to hell.

Fair points, if you are dealing with a reasonable person, no matter their leanings.
There does come a point where you have to choose to not cast your pearls before swine.

I’ve tried. You can blow their “facts” out of the water with 20 examples and if NPR hasn’t OK’d the thought, forget it.

They are terrified of becoming an outcast of their liberal enclave. They adopt these inane sound bites and revel in their superiority.

Libs lack the curiosity and depth of thought conservatives have. No sense of humor either. They are miserable evil suckers.
