Shortly after revealing its Alpha5 electric sports car, the revamped DeLorean Motor Company offered the first look at its 2024 “Alpha5 Plasmatail” and 2040 “Omega” concept vehicles at Monterey Car Week. The Alpha5 Plasmatail is the most road-ready of the two, appearing in wagon form with the addition of a stylized rear hatch while maintaining the Alpha5’s original two-gullwing-door configuration. Alternatively, the DeLorean Omega delivers a vision of the distant future as a Baja-themed off-road racer.
While maintaining the sharp aerodynamic lines and thin LED headlights from the Alpha5, specs for the Plasmatail include an estimated zero to 60 mph time of 2.99 seconds and a 100+ kWh battery pack offering more than 300 miles of range. Meanwhile, the 2040 Omega is hailed by DeLorean as a “complete departure from traditional automotive design,” and looks to be something straight out of a cyberpunk video game featuring moon rover-style wheels, a front spoiler, cannon-shaped headlights, no sided mirrors, fin-shaped translucent rear headlights, and a dumbbell-shaped roofline.
With the Alpha5 expected to release in 2024 as its first public offering, look for the new Delorean Motor Company to continue to build out its signature aesthetic.
DeLorean Is Back Ping!......................
I’ll take 2.
I can’t afford any of them. I must have fallen in a Well because paying 60k for a car is not something I could ever do.
They’re coal powered.
Nope. I’ll keep my giant 99 Suburban.
The younger, more hip Cartel leaders must be interested in smuggling with electric vehicles now I guess.
You’ll never be able to go off road exploring in an electric vehicle. Unless you take a generator with lots of gas. Now an electric sports car can be fun, I guess. But you don’t have the rumble of an internal combustion engine. Gotta have that.
Does it run on beer cans and banana peels?
Do any of them come with a flux capacitor?
You make joke, yes?
Neither one looks very appealing to me. The wheels on the second one look like those I see on too many vehicles driven by a certain segment of the population.
“an estimated zero to 60 mph time of 2.99 seconds and a 100+ kWh battery pack offering more than 300 miles of range”
I love how they always conveniently leave out the time it takes to charge.
If it’s any like the tesla I’ll pass.
Charging times Tesla model S:
Supercharger 30 minutes
Tesla wall connector 9 hours
240 volt home 18 hours
Standard wall outlet 2-3 days
No................
Ah, memories of my youth.
Playing cards in bike spokes.......thanks for the 50 year flashback. Lol!
They look cool. Make one that has an ICE or a Mr. Fusion.
300 miles on a charge. Is that a friggen joke?
I’ll put in dibs for the Omega! What cost, $400,000 ? Not exactly a modern Model T.
If they could make them for 20 grand point of sale, they might have a chance.
I’m seriously considering a start-up that will rent diesel generators in a nice little trailer people can take with them on long trips that decide to go off the grid for a while.
Half the trailer for the generator and fuel, the other half can be used for supplemental storage of hunting or fishing gear, etc.
Camouflage them in a standard, normal small trailer so people won’t know how hypocritical the drivers are as they silently weave among their peers without anyone knowing, saving the outdoorsman the condescending looks on their way through liberal urban environments.
It’s missing the “Mr Fusion” power pack.
