ELVIS Presley's tragic death at the age of 42 was not caused by self-destruction and drug abuse but was instead a tragic inevitability spurred by bad genes in the singer's family tree, a biographer claims.
Myths and misconceptions have continued to swirl around Elvis' death in the 45 years since the legendary performer was found unresponsive in the bathroom of his Graceland mansion on August 16, 1977....Hoedel believes that Gladys was actually suffering from Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, an inherited and rarely diagnosed disorder that can cause lung and liver disease.
"We know Elvis had it because he found to be a carrier for Alpha-1 after his death, so it had to come from somewhere" she added.

He was pretty young when he served in the army. If you look at his army photographs and compare them with those taken close to the time of his death, it becomes obvious that he didn’t take care of himself. His abuse of drugs was serious.
And he was a big fan of nanner pudding, too, I’ve heard.
I knew one person w/Alpha-1. It really messes you up.
after reading that article I posted about the autopsy etc..it seems clear to me he had genetic issues that created disease which evolved into drug use and a body that didnt respond well to certain drugs
he was on a vicious cycle exacerbated by his ability to get drugs and a medical community that didnt understand autoimmune disorders.
He didnt stand a chance to live to an old age.
Kind of a sad life for all his fame, fortune, and generosity.
I am going through radical measures for me to try to avoid meds. When a Rheumatologist tells you the drugs you can take are like chemotherapy drugs the first thing is...uh...NO. Let me find another way if possible.
He was above ground in a mausoleum with his mother. There was a clumsy attempt by a couple of morons who tried to steal his body. His father Vernon decided to move their bodies to better safety at Graceland.
Supposedly according to the medical examiner’s report he weighed around 235 to 240 lbs. The 350 pound weight reported was inaccurate due to the bloating affecting his appearance in his last public photos.
I hope you can overcome whatever you are dealing with, or at least mitigate your hardships. You need to stick around as long as possible since you are more thoughtful and more coherent that many who are here.
Elvis' life was a very sad one. His gentleness did attract a lot of people who took advantage of him and led him in tragic directions. He sure did make some wonderful music. His epic drug use was both prescribed and illicit. You are right, I suspect, his illicit use followed bad prescriptions. He didn't stand a chance.
He wasn’t. Especially not a drinker. Growing up as a kid, he was surrounded by many relatives where were always drunk. When he visited their homes, it would be littered with beer cans. It turned him off alcohol. His father too was also a drunk. His mother drank, but secretly behind his back because she knew how he disapproved of drinking.
i went to check what my test results were with this since most of you will never even get to the point of testing for it.
My alpha 1 is normal but on the lower end. They then do the phenotype. Elvis was MS which means carrier. Mine was MM
“The patient appears to have a normal phenotype. All M alleles (including subtypes M1, M2, and M3) produce normal serum concentrations of alpha-1-protease inhibitor and are not associated with clinical disease.”
So it stands to reason that at a minimum his mother was a carrier but more likely she had the disease. However, even carriers can end up with problems as per some studies.
Peanut butter and banana sandwiches fried in butter, washed down with Dr. Pepper.
Article I posted states Elvis had violent reactions to alcohol which fits with the CYP2D6 defect idea. He went into rages supposedly.
Asians have a weird genetic issue with Alcohol causing a flush
So he may have attributed it to whatever he saw as a kid or whatever but there MAY have been a genetic reason for it. Speculation on the part of the Dr.
I know that he loved his sweet housekeeper, but she should have knocked off the fried peanut butter and bacon sammies before the Boys came in to shoot him up for the night.
“Peanut butter and banana sandwiches fried in butter, washed down with Dr. Pepper.”
Yeah but eating all that fat and butter along with the drugs didn’t cause his death. He had an illness that some person with a journalism degree diagnosed. She never examined him as he died some 44 years ago but she is selling a book that explains it all.
I know it’s true because I read the shocking story in the Star.
Did they correct the spelling (original marker had it as Elvis Aaron Presley but his name was Elvis Aron Presley)?
Nah he went home according to men in black.😏
Wow.
