Thanks for all you do.
When I was a kid, we would go to visit our cousins in a neighboring state. Not quite as affluent as us, they had lard, rather than butter or margarine. We had margarine sometimes but my parents definitely preferred butter. I realized when I grew up that it was because when times were tight Mom and Dad had to economize. I still cannot stomach lard. The thought of spreading lard on toast as my relatives did just grosses me out.
I have used the pre-1964 US Quarter to gauge “money” for quite a while (90% silver...6.25 grams...0.2009422 Troy oz).
“I got paid $1.85 ($13.11 in 2022 $) an hour in 1972”
$1.85/.25 = 7.4 quarters
7.4 X 0.2 oz silver = 1.48 oz silver
(Silver closed at $19.82/oz)
$19.82 X 1.48 = $29.33 in today’s dollars
Not a bad job @ almost $30/hr
My first “Real” job was installing carpet 1966 @ $0.75/hr or $11.89 (slave wage)
Ranked choice voting. Murk will be running against a real Republican in the general, Kelly Tshibaka. No Democrat on the ballot. (I think)
The system is a little confusing.
Dogs will eat almost anything. Just because they will eat it doesn't mean it's good for them. We have a lot experience in this area. (PR owns the local veterinary clinic)
A lot of the dogs around here (Southeast AK) thrive on canned, fresh or frozen salmon.
Regardless, I have used butter exclusively for well over 40 years. If I am invited to dinner, I will ask if they have margarine. If the response is affirmative, I break out a Lb. of butter. I keep it chilled with the wine or other beverage that I bring. I will not consume margarine.
Years ago, in Europe, the Army-Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) actually ran a Dairy farm as American type milk was not a popular drink in most of NATO Europe, so we produced our own.
The milk tended to be expensive, but Americans want their milk. The best part was that the by products were seriously cheap. The price of butter was quite low, as were other dairy things, but not the milk.
After a few years, when I returned to the USA, the cost of milk was a bargain, but the butter cost about 3-4 times as much as that PX high quality butter did. Still, I always use butter. Margarine is gross.
Adjusting for “inflation”...
$30/hr ≅ $20/hr (1964 is baseline...20 cents/ pint of Schlitz in a local bar)
I had a vasectomy at 27. My then wife had been diagnosed with a spinal problem and the (Army) docs told her she should avoid pregnancy.
After we divorced she went on to have four children.
Someone pointed out that NFA “violations” are TAX stamp “violations”, the IRS army is the gun seizure army and BATFE just keeps redefining the “violations” to cover more and more people.
I believe this expanded IRS will be the enforcer of many things for the derps, including the social credit system they are implementing in this country, via Google & others. Remember Google helped develop the social credit system for China. We’re not that far from seeing it full-blown here.
here’s the latest episodes of the X22 Reports:

Maybe by praising Nadler, Trump is trolling them so the dems will hate Nads? 🧐
I use butter exclusively, unless I'm making biscuits. Vegetable shortening is the equivalent (to me) of margarine, so I do use lard to make biscuits or pie crusts - basically anything calling for vegetable shortening.

“The thought of spreading lard on toast as my relatives did just grosses me out.”
We used to spread bacon grease on our toast.
Oh, I see. So there is still a chance for Murk to get the boot!
“These people are stupid”
When I was pumping gas, cleaning windshields and checking oil making the minimum wage, $1.65 an hour, regular gasoline was $0.19.9 per gallon. Nineteen and nine tenths of a penny.
What is it today? In that part of the country the average price for regular unleaded is $5.39. The minimum wage is now $17.00 per hour.
The math: in 1965, an hour at minimum wage would buy 8 gallons of gasoline. In 2022, the same hour at minimum wage will only buy 3 gallons. Make your own conclusions.
Simple reason to drop the 17th Amendment. Large corporations and foreign government lobby the Senate. They no longer represent the states they are elected from, but “other” interests.
Once they become responsible to their state legislatures, thing would possibly change.
