I agree, Having outdoor house cats is a good thing. They keep the chipmonk, mice and other rodents under control.
Speaking of rodents, for years here in southern NH I never saw a cottontail rabbit. Now, in the last year or two, they are everywhere. I saw two yesterday as I pulled into the parking lot at Home Depot.
Certainly a tremendous improvement over our current overlords in DC!
“War on cats!”
Here’s some help on that war:
“101 Uses for a Dead Cat”
My cats keep me sane. They are a positive addition to many households. But to each his own.

Cats act like they’re still BIG but they’ve got another thing coming!
What planet are these alien creatures from?
“Pound for pound, housecats are the most voracious predators on earth.’
Nope, Praying Mantises hold that title
Cats are invasive and they kill for sport.
Cats are the Hitler of the animal kingdom.
The only thing that stops them from world domination is the lack of opposable thumbs…
“Wonder why no one has invented safe implantable birth control for cats.”
When we were dealing with a few ferals, we did Trap Neuter Release (TNR) on them but it was difficult trapping them to take to the vet. While researching, it seems I read that there is something that can be added to food that would handle birth control. Can’t recall now; it’s been a long time.
Re an implant, I have been thinking that someone should invent a device to attach to a cat’s collar that would make something get into the animal transdermally for birth control. And, after just losing one to diabetes, why not invent a monitor-pump to attach to a collar? They work for humanoids.
In any case, all the ferals eventually were welcomed into our house and have been wonderful. Some have passed now, and they’re missed every single day. [sob]
There’s one looking at me now I think it wants food
Cats are the apex predator of HI. That said, here in CA, ours hunt rats and gophers. I am sad when they catch a pretty little bird, but I have saved a couple of them from being the cats’ playthings. None of them were endangered species, so I can live with it.
The home I bought 33 years ago was overrun with rats. Installed cats. Haven’t seen a rat in the house since 1992.
Comfort, relaxation. A happy purring cat on your lap is very calming.
😆
Love it!
I've seen crows stalking ducklings following mama duck across the grass.
