The study, headed by PASIFIC biologist Wojciech Solarz, found that the damage that cats cause in terms of hunting and killing birds and other wildlife was enough justification to consider the animals invasive.

Guess they don't remember what happened when cats were killed off in Europe, the rat population exploded and the fleas they harbored spread deadly plague.

Did Alf eat cats? It’s the other way around. Everything is backwards. Men have babies. The economy is the best every. The border is secure, and so on.

I get frustrated at them declaring certain plants as invasive....for really no good reason. I think Burning Bush is one of them. Had them at our first house. Absolutely awesome. Nothing invasive about them.

This is what keeps tree rats out of my pomegranate and orange trees, otherwise I wouldn't get a thing.

This is a working cat:

Feral cats cause enormous damage in Australia.

Locals hunt and kill thousands of them every month.

The Polish Academy of Sciences can say whatever it wants. But those folks had better not post anything here.
They have greatly angered our resident Viking kitties.

They tried to blame things on cats before, with disastrous results.
Fewer cats -> More rats -> More pestilence.

I fight invasive grasses in my yard and garden every single day - that people plant as either ornamentals or to keep hillsides from eroding. They have deep roots and sharp blades and are a nuisance. Our county has asked people NOT to plant them - but I see them at the local nursery all the time.

I’ve also see the destruction a week like Kudzu - also known as “mile a minute” b/c it grows so fast - can do in Hawaii - it’ll grow over and entire house, quickly. The South has been plagued with this pest as well.

I can see this could be true of cats that are let outside. They could interfere with birds and other local wildlife and flora. But cats are generally kept indoors, and they are trained to urinate and defecate indoors in a litter box. I am not a big cat person, but cats are generally house trained and hygienic in that respect.

Contrast to dogs and one can immediately see the difference. Dogs defecate and urinate in public spaces by routine. They also bark and owners commonly let them off leash in public parks and wildlife habitats- which destroys the public spaces. My local park had to close half of its space to EVERYONE due to the damage caused by the dogs and their owners who let the dogs roam free and defecate and urinate- against the posted rules. And this is widely accepted in our culture today, I don’t understand why.

Cats are native to North Africa.

People are native to the African Rift Valley.

Therefore if cats do not belong in Poland neither do people.

Butterfly Bushes (Buddleia), Barberry (Berberis), Ornamental Pear (Pyrus calleryana) and Viburnums (Viburnum x species) are just three of many others also declared invasive. Plus dozens of perennials. These people are nuts.
