Electric Bus Burst Into Flames During East Coast Heatwave – One Day After Connecticut Gov. Requires All Future State Vehicles to Run On Electric Power

On Saturday morning, during the heatwave that swept the East Coast, a new electrically powered public transportation bus caught on fire as it sat in the bus parking lot, according to fire officials.

The Hamden Fire Department was dispatched to the CT Transit bus depot in order to extinguish the fire that had spread throughout the electric bus.

According to the authorities, the lithium-ion battery was responsible for the fire that broke out on the electric bus.

“Lithium-ion battery fires are difficult to extinguish due to the thermal chemical process that produces great heat and continually reignites,” the fire officials said in a statement. “Exposures were protected at the scene.”

Hamden was where BlackElk (RIP) lived before moving to Rockford, IL. He was well-known there.

So, where does the power come from to charge the batteries?

"Oh, it comes right out of this building here. See the outlet?"

And in the winter here in Upstate...they don’t start. I think the solution was heating the garages.

One more reason NOT to ride a public bus - roasted people!

I stopped riding a long time ago because of the unruly behavior, throwing of food, harassing, and other behavior favored by the left.

How would you like to be in the Holland tunnel with that buss?

Get enough of them on the road and it will happen.

Worse than that it just spewed major toxic chemicals into the air. And then there is the toxic ground water runoff from putting the fire out. Good thing the bus was empty.

Also if these buses are ever in a major accident this is most likely what will happen.

Threads from 2021. No mention of fire for second link, correction welcome.

Insights welcome.

Also, patriots are reminded that they must vote twice this election year. Your first vote is to primary career RINO incumbents in federal and state governments. Your second vote is to replace outgoing Democrats and RINOs with Trump-endorsed patriot candidates.

Again, insights welcome.

It's like when Haman was hanged on the gallows he built for Mordecai.

Surely the "State" will require all State employees to combust er commute in them?

“...it sat in the bus parking lot...”

They really got lucky here that it wasn’t surrounded by other buses that could have made the situation far worse. If it was that destructive and dangerous to the surrounding area with one bus, imagine a dozen set off by the first one parked next to them.

Does a biography or autobiography about BlackElk exist to the best of your knowledge? Was a most interesting fellow.

No problem.

Every electric bus will tow a fire fighting trailer.

No. I knew him for almost 30 years, and of course his wife is alive (and relocated to Texas). I could answer a lot of questions.

Exposure: Property (neighboring houses, nearby cars, famous trees, etc.) near fire that may become involved by transfer of heat or burning material from main fire, typically by convection or radiation.

Al Gore, what is the carbon footprint of an electric bus catching on fire? Asking for a friend named Ned LaMoron.

That’s the latest default lingo for EV firefighting efforts...

Instead of reporting EV fires are often near impossible to extinguish due to rapid cascade of ignition and reignition of cells, before total involvement and destruction of vehicle and any fixed property like a garage it might be parked within, we’re to be assured that at least no nearby property was damaged...

Translation: We can’t put out the EV fire, so we wet down anything else nearby to prevent it also becoming involved...
