Heart attack: The shower habit that could ‘precipitate’ a heart attack in the 'healthy'
News ^

HEART disease - one of the biggest killers in the UK - is characterised by difficulty pumping blood around the body. Some studies have shown that several habits could trigger an event, one of which may occur in the shower.

Heart attack is understood mainly in terms of its association with other comorbidities (having more than one condition concurrently), such as high cholesterol and hypertension. A sudden halt in blood flow to the heart can dangerously starve the organ of oxygen, although people are still conscious and breathing. One habit in the shower could precipitate the onset of symptoms.

A heart attack also is called a myocardial infarction. The usual cause of sudden blockage in a coronary artery is the formation of a blood clot."

Love ours. The plumber suggested it when we remodeled our master bath. Used to take a couple of minutes to get hot water to that end of the house. Now it’s instant on. Love it. Coupled with the washlet/bidet toilet seat, life is good.

Better yet, no showers.

Or baths.

A hand-held shower head is great...lets you get in the shower, get the water temp adjusted before you douse yourself with the water.

I’m over 90 and I was swimming in my southern Ohio pond late into October last year as usual. It was cold but I didn’t have any heart attacks.

We have had regular showers for over 100 years and cold showers at least that long

If this was a regular thing we would have tracked it way before now.

I bought a bidet kit for the toilet seat but never installed it. I am afraid the water will spray all over outside of the commode. What has been your experience.

That’s probably what claimed my grandmother. She had had a couple of heart attacks in her 80s, but the big one hit when she was shoveling snow, about 6 weeks before her 100th birthday.

That’s why the French don’t get heart attacks, even with lots of brie.

The article is poorly written and takes forever to get to the point. Meanwhile a zillion pop up ads interfere with reading it.

“Cold showers may have a negative effect on people with heart disease “as it could precipitate a heart attack or heart rhythm irregularities”.

Who takes a cold shower? I can’t remember the last time I took a cold shower, maybe rinsing off after a swim back in the 70s.

On a similar note, I heard years ago a similar situation with drinking icy cold water. Not to mention the brain freeze!

If you have a plug in one that heats the water, the seat and has a blow dry feature there is a sensor that stops the water flow if you’re not seated. Also, the spray is well directed to where it is supposed to go. You can adjust the spray forward and backward for best coverage. We have two of them, one in each bath. It’s weird now when we go to someone else’s house or on vacation to not have it. Go to Amazon and read the comments. People love them, but some of the comments are priceless. Men don’t normally write in depth reviews, but they love their washlet/bidets.

Yep. Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS). All of a sudden. For no particular reason. Professional soccer players dropping dead. It just happens to be far more common than a year ago. No reason for it. The UK heatwave, now people are dehydrated so it causes blood clots.

Yep, every possible reason crawling out of the wood work but no mention of experimental shots.

Well, I am definitely going to install it one of these days.
May be during the next toilet paper shortage for sure haha.
With Brandon in charge, anything is possible. Thanks for your input.

I am in NE Florida, and even in July, shower runs cold for 5-7 minutes before the tankless gas heater sends warm water.

”Love ours. The plumber suggested it when we remodeled our master bath.”

I installed one under the sink in our upstairs bathroom and get nearly-instant hot water at that faucet. The shower is on a different branch, but the warm water is drawn up the supply line much of the way to that branch. So it takes a few seconds to get hot, but far less time than it used to.

Interestingly, because the pump draws up water in the line until it reaches 104 degrees, and recycles it back into the cold water line, the bidet that’s connected to the cold water line is quite comfortable, too!
