In Democracy in America, Alexis de Tocqueville noticed the presence of what we would call "civil society," something lacking in France. If something needed to be addressed in a community, the men of the town would get together, form a committee and address the problem directly.
That ended with the New Deal.
Today if something needs to be addressed, the people of the town will get together, form a committee -- and petition government to address the problem. Since 1933, people have looked to government for solutions, not to themselves.
The New Deal destroyed American civil society. Female genitalia are not the reason.

That’s why I’m very skeptical of the bill Bidum just signed to take the tariffs off of baby formula. It all happened too quickly & conveniently.
I get why we need baby formula but it coming in from foreign sources, with no oversight, is what has me worried about the situation. The evil these people will stoop to, knows no bounds. That’s got me questioning everything these days.
